LODGE NOTES
Loyal Order of Moose
The Moose Lodge has regular meet
ings now since the Flu is over, and they
are putting on quite a substantial growth
in membership. At the same time, the
members are very much enthused at the
accomplishment of the work they have
in hand.
Quite a good deal of interest is mani
fested in the debates that are to begin
next Monday night between members of
Badin Lodge and Albemarle Lodge. Two
of these debates will take place in the
Lodge room, while the third question will
be discussed in a public meeting, the
place to be designated later. If you are
not too sick to laugh, watch for the
notice of same. Mr. Dugan Shankle, of
Albemarle, is to be one of the principal
speakers. Enough said!
Knights of Pythias
On Monday night, December 30, 1918,
Tallassee Lodge, No. 233, held its reg
ular election of officers, who are to serve
during the year 1919. The officers
elected are as follows:
E. F. Smith, Chancellor Commander;
T. W. Belk, Vice Chancellor; Earl M.
Morgan, Prelate; C. E. Graham, Master
of Work; Thos. C. Sheppard, Keeper of
Records and Seal; J. M. Harris, Master
of Finance; W. H. Davis, Master of
Exchequer; J. H. Rhineheart, Master of
Arms; G. E. Bradford, Inner Guard;
W. J. Stokes, Outer Guard.
On Tuesday night, the above officers
were duly installed, and some little “gin
ger” was put into the workings of the
Lodge by the return of our former mem
ber and brother, S. E. Corbitt.
Some new life has been added to our
Lodge within recent weeks by the addi
tion of five or more new members, who
are representative of the best citizen
ship of our growing town. It is our
aim to get all such good citizens to unite
with us, and thus do us and themselves
much good.
Our membership is greatly delighted
to welcome back those of our number
who have been in war service. Some
three or four have already returned, and
we are expecting others to do likewise
ere long.
As soon as it can be arranged, we are
expecting to have an oyster supper or
some other kind of entertainment, whi^[
we can invite our lady friends to enjoJ
with us. This may not be—as with m*”
—the best way to the heart, but we
sure it is the way to much enjojTnei'*'
and who can ever tell the way to *
woman’s heart, except the right fello^'f
who gets there? So let us hope th»'j
good may result from such an effort. ■
