This meeting was the best attended of any we have had in some time, and every body had a good time. The Sovereign Camp has granted us a dispensation to open our charter for sixty or ninety days, and a lot of our townsmen are taking advantage of the small initiation fee, and becoming mem bers of this society. It might interest some to know that, besides the fraternal side of the Woodmen of the World, they have about the cheapest life insurance there is to be had today; and it is a.s good as the best to be had. This is a thing every man should look out for; especially the man who doesn’t have any income except his sal ary; for the time is coming when each of us will go the way of the world, then, if we are fixed in this particular, our dependent ones will have the means to tide them over this occasion. —T. C. Sheppard Little Miss Reiner’s Party It is not often that one is so lucky as to be born on Friday, the thirteenth, and in 1913, too! This unique distinc tion belongs to little Miss Pauline Reiner, who on Friday, June 13, celebrated her sixth birthday by giving a charming party to her friends. The following young ladies and gentlemen were pres ent: Hazel Fuller, Merrill Morris, Louis Nackman, Mary Endres, Robert E. Lee, Ruby Murphy, Frances Devereaux, Billy Erwin, Frances Erwin, Bernard Ellwan- ger, Ralph Step, Louis Arnette, Jose phine Arnette, Chas. Graham, LeRoy Mullis, Ruth Mullis. Interesting Demonstration A very interesting demonstration was made at the Badin Furniture Store, on June 17, to show a remarkably simple device, by which any ordinary stove may be made to cook with a gas from kero sene oil and air, the latter furnishing eighty-five per cent, of the heating mix ture. This Wonder Oil-Gas Burner can be installed at a very moderate cost, and should be a great convenience to house keepers. Rev. J. E. B. Houser, 54 Willow Street, has a front yard that can be used as a pattern for others in Badin. His border of sweet William and sweet peas are fine; and the nasturtium bed on the rock in the front yard shows what a little thought will do toward turning a barren spot into a place of beauty. Mr. Houser has not forgotten his home train ing, for his garden is a dandy, and he can probably give advice on gardening to almost anyone. Try Orr’s Market BADIN, N.
