badin bulletii^ Page Twenty-Two Carbon team. S. B. Mitchell, captain of the Slugger team, is playing short for all teams, and is always a star. Hailey McMickel, pitcher for the btar team is also becoming a dreadnought m the box. Little Jake Robinson is his catcher. One certain manager of a team in the league is now searching his cata logs for a battery. We shall be glad to report the games of Monday and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of next week in the next issue of The Bulletin. You should read it to know who really play baseball. The Colored Students Altho our number is constantly chang ing, on account of new ones continuing to come in and a few of the old ones leaving us, yet we are making it pretty well. , „ The boys say the temperature of the pot-room is pretty high, but the chances for recreation afforded us on the outside, and the pleasant environment, help us to forget those troubles, and impel us to repeat the popular pot-room expres sion: “Let’s go back!” W. H. MEIGS Dan Pierce’s Home The above picture shows the home of Daniel Pierce, at 905 Sherman Road, which he purchased along with the house immediately adjoining it about three months ago. In front of these houses have been planted flowers; in the back is one of the best gardens we have seen. Here is an example that can well be followed by those in the village who have their own interest at heart, for it shows an evidence of thrift and assump tion of responsibility that are bound to bring results. Jas. Halback, 422 Jackson Street, has a good start toward the garden prize. Church Notes Rev. L. A. McDonald and his hustling followers have the distinguished honor of having laid the first cornerstone fo- a church in Badin. This occasion wa one of the most pleasing events in history of Badin. It was Pl^nned some time ago, and Rev. J. J. Stubbs, Hamlet, N. C., a great power of ^ A. M. E.
