Va!!'’'""' Smith, Frank M. Claude Rinchardt, R. E. Hiz- zell, Wm. Jenkin, F. R. Hunnicutt, and Paul Moose. Mrs. E. F. Smith and Mrs. Conkwright accompanied the party, and with Mr. Smith and Mr. Frank Rine- hardt went on to Maryville, Tenn., where they spent a very pleasant visit at Mr. and Mrs. Smith’s former home. At Asheville, this party enjoyed them selves to the utmost. One hundred tyros were on hand to give the hungry tiger a royal feast. The street parade, which was led by the D. O. K. K. band, was quite imposing—some five or six hun dred being in line. The K. of P. Lodge of Badin is ex pecting the Bagdad Temple to visit our town on Tuesday, August 19, at which time we expect to have some fifty or more tyros lined up to meet “Solomon.” At this time we also expect to have quite a number of our brothers from other towns with us. Salisbury, States ville, Hickory, High Point, Lexington, and other towns are expected to furnish a choice lot of “fresh meat” for this occasion. ,, At the regular meeting of the K. of P. lodge, officers to serve during the term ending December 31, 1919, were duly in stalled as follows: Chancellor Commander, W. T. Rainey; Vice-Chancellor, W. F. Wheeler; Prelate, D. E. Duncan; Master of Exchequer, W. H. Davis; Keeper of Records and Seal, T. C. Sheppard; Inner Guard, Z. B. Robinson; Master of Work, Paul Moose; Master of Finance, B. R. Fuller; Master of Arms, A. D. Howell; Outer Guard, Joe Lee. The Semi-Annual report of our Lodge, which has been forwarded to the Grand Personal Mention Mr. Oscar Milton, who has recently been discharged from overseas duties, has gone back with the Standard Oil Company, with headquarters in Balti- more. Dr. T. C. Hunley, of Charleston, S. C., w'ho has lately been discharged from service, has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hunley, on Falls Road. • Stanly Clothing Company has rented the space adjoining Tom Cutchins, in the colored village, and opened a tailor ing and furnishing business. Mrs. J. A. Sherrard and Miss Inez Newsom, of Goldsboro, are the house guests of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Whar ton, of Henderson Avenue. Mr. and Mrs. Wharton, and son James, have just returned from a visit to friends and relatives in Blandenburg, Pa., and Goldsboro, N. C. J. C. Willeford, local jeweler, and a party of friends, spent Thursday, the nineteenth, on a fishing trip up the lake, and made a fine catch. Mrs. E. M. Evans is home from the hospital, where she has been for some time. Her friends are delighted that she is well again. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Hunley, and little daughter Lucille, have been spending their vacation in Richmond, Va.
