Shaffer, W. B. Davidson, H. L. Cecil, and .1. L. Cecil. Mr. Jones, Mr. Moore, and Mr. J. L. Cecil are old men, wlio were here during tlio construction of the present furnaces. Mr. Andy Beck, formerly employed in the mechanical department of the Carbon Plant, is now employed in the Boiler Room as fireman. Messrs. Jessup and Henly are firemen on the other two shifts. Biddix is rapidly getting his menagerie' together up on the Hill. Up to date he has four bird dogs, one hound, seven opossums, and one dog whose nationality can't be established. Mr. G. R. Swaney, formerly superin tendent of the Maryville Carbon Plant, and at present connected with the Mas- sena Plant, was a recent visitor. The Baking Department, Gas Producer and Boilers are now being operated on eight-hour shifts, to the satisfaction of all concerned. Mr. D. G. Graham is back on his old job again, after spending several months in the Grinding Room. Messrs. J. S. Hargett and A. H. Eagle are now employed in the Baking Depart ment. Electrical Department Sparks We have noticed in The Bulletin re cently some very interesting information regarding the water wheel test made at the Yadkin Narrows and Falls power houses. It was interesting for several reasons, for it explained how it was done, and by whom. Now some of the opera tors seem to think we have had one or two generator tests in Yadkin Narrows power >iouse recently, and that the gen erators showed up just as good as the water wheels; at which time the opera tors on shift and the gasoline engine was also tested. However, there wa.s nothing serious happened, as the current was off again and on again within a few minutes, going in the right direction. Fred Rodgers has just returned from two w'eeks’ vacation spent visiting in and around Fort Mill, S. C. Fred says they killed the fatted calf, and for once he forgot there was such a thing as the H.
