Page Ten BADIN BULLE ,s^ ^ DEPARTMENTAL NEWS ^ Narrows Power House W. C. Clark, switchboard operator on daylight shift, enjoyed a week off, visit ing in Sanford, N. C. When Clark left, he did not state exactly where he would land, but said he was going “dear” hunt ing, and would find one if he had to look the two Carolinas over. In case Clark does not find his “dear,” it might be interesting to the fair readers to know that Clark is a very desirable bachelor, has a nicely furnished apartment in the Mountain Club, and is an interesting con verger, having visited several foreign countries. Weight, 115 pounds; and is dreading the cold winter. Much work has been done recently on and to the dam. The outfit of Mr. A. C. Scott spent several days making some necessary repairs. Mr. Tom Martin and his gang of steel workers repaired the gantry crane, and Mr. Wheeler and his crew of painters put a coat or two on the Tainter Gates on the dam. All of which should put it in condition for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rogers had as their house guest during the month Mr. and Mrs. Willis Shoemaker and children, of Pee Dee, N. C. Mr. Shoemaker is one of the station superintendents of the Carolina Light and Power Company. Also Mr. Oril Barrett visited Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, and later accepted a posi tion at the Falls Power-House. Mr. F. R. Adkins, superintendent of power-houses of the Tennessee Power Company, with headquarters in Chatta nooga, was a guest of his brother, Mr. J. J. Adkins, of the Mountain Club, dur ing the month. Mr. Adkins will make an extended visit thru the East, inspect ing power plants, before returning to his home. We will now stand and sing “Praise Be unto Them,” before loading up in the John Henry recently put in operation to haul the operators to work by the firm of J. L. Adkins and Fred Childers. These two gentlemen deserve much credit in putting on a car that will really go and come. Bob Jones just can’t stay away, it seems, for during the past month he spent a week visiting in Fort Mill and Rock Hill. Bob’s young, but he declares he has been going with her six years. It’s a long, long road that takes six years to “go” it, don’t you think. Bob? Speaking of cold weather, reminds us of the fact that another one of our single operators, Tom Hardin, was dreading winter, so resigned and took himself to the warm climate of Florida.
