Page Twenty BADIN BULLETD i-' CHURCH NOTICES ^ Baptist Briefs By the time this issue of the Bulletin is being read, Badin Baptists expect to be “over the top” in their share of the “Seventy-Five Million Campaign.” “Vic tory Week” is November 30 to December 7. The pledge cards are coming in now to Director Thomas C. Sheppard. Our folks are coming across splendidly. Few, if any, Baptists of Badin, pass by our Church property without a feel ing of pride and thanksgiving to God. As these lines are being read, it is hoped and expected that the slate will be go ing on the roof of our new church build ing. Pastor J. Ml Arnette attended the Baptist State Convention, at Raleigh, November 11 to 14, and spoke on Aged Ministers’ Relief.” He was again elected Corresponding Secretary for the North Carolina Baptist Ministers’ Relief Boar ,1. Mesdames J. M. Arnette and B. B. Melton entertained the Woman’s Mis- ‘ sionary Society of the First Baptist Church, at the pastor’s home, November 21, from 7.30 to 9.30 p. m. The evening was characterized by music, laughter, and good sense. Refreshments were served. To “listen in” on an occasion of the sort convinces one that the movies, unclean shows, and dances are not the best places to learn to laugh in a genuine way. Let’s have more such meets. Our church was delighted Sunday morning, November 23, to receive into our membership Mr. Aiken Moore and Mr. and Mrs. N. L. Smith, and their little daughter, Virginia. Brother Moore comes with letter from the First Bap tist Church of Raleigh, N. C. Brother Smith and family come with letter from the First Baptist Church, Rock Hill, S. C. “The Morning Watch” at the church, ten minutes before Sunday School, is a great experience for those who get there, proving again the wisdom of our live superintendent, Mr. E. F. Smith. Let no teacher or officer forget to be there. Let us give God some “overtime.” It pays. Mr. John Calloway, who built the farmhouse where Mr. Johnson lives, east of the Commercial Block, and who used to be a leader in old Ebenezer Church, worshiped with us November 24. He re membered tenderly in his prayer both the old church and the new. Presbyterian Church Notes Revival services will be held in our Church, at the Community Building, commencing November 30, and continuing about ten days. Rev. C. Cannon Brown, evangelist for the Synod of North Caro lina, will preach, and be assisted by his singer. Rev. C. 0. Pardo. A choir and seven-piece orchestra will furnish the music. Everyone in Badin is invited to come and take part. The Ladies’ Aid Society have had two interesting meetings lately—at Mrs. W. L Stokes’, and at Mrs. J. D. Pannill’s. The society gave Mrs. Nettie Bradford Martin, a bride, a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mrs. D. Clark, on Tal lassee Avenue, November 14. Work has at last begun on our church We hope to have it completed and in it soon. Won’t it be a glorious da3 for Badin when three new churches an completed and open for worship?
