Page Six BADIN BULLETIN HOME OF MR. H. C. JENKINS ernment wants these to become perma nent investors, to fortify their own fu ture and the safety of the country. The government lays before the people the entire line of its financial goods, includ ing certificates of indebtedness. This is not a Treasury department movement— it is a people’s movement for the im provement of their own financial condi tion. The Savings campaign is not sole ly to sell Thrift Stamps, but to stamp Thrift as a habit on the people of the nation. “Four simple economic rules are laid down for this purpose. They are: “1—To put aside as their first obliga tion, and before they spend it all, part of their incomes for future use. “2—To invest the money they save out of their incomes in a security which pays a reasonable rate of interest, and is abso lutely safe—United States Government securities. “3—To use the rest of their incomes so as to make every penny they spend buy something they really need and want, and which has a full penny’s value. “4—To use what they buy with their money with as much care as if it were money itself.” There can’t be so much unrest at present among organized workers. So many of them are resting.—Brooklyn Eagle. You Can! Of Course You Can! Would you make life a full success? You can! And win the gifts that build and bless? You can! Resolve this day to make the start. Unite the strength of hand and heart. And make your “headpiece” do its part— You can! Of course you can! Say to yourself: “Pm bound to win!” You can! Keep sayin’ it thru thick and thin. You can! Pick out the task you ought to do. Then stick right at it, staunch and true, And, come what will, you’ll see it thru, You can! Of course you can! You are the master of your will. You can! You make conditions, good or ill. You can! Think hard! And with your reason clear Select the course you mean to steer. Then hold it—day, week, month, and year— You can! Of course you can! Right here and now’s the place to start, You can! There’s work a-plenty! Do your part! You can! This minute, waiting at your door, Are opportunities galore; With wisdom, garner in your store— You can! Of course you can! —By Nixon Waterman Yadkin Motor Company Opens The garage of the Yadkin Motor Com pany will be opened to the public the first part of next week. This makes the second garage opened by this com pany, the first being opened in Albe marle. This company is owned entirely by Badin men—Messrs. C. G. Buffington, P. E. Book, and G. N. Trexler being the owners. Mr. Buffington is man ager, and is in active charge. The company, in addition to having a modernly equipped garage, will also have the agency for Stanly County for the following cars: Overland, Maxwell, Piedmont, Willys-Knight, and Maxwell trucks. Already three carloads of Max wells, and several Overlands have been sold, and orders booked for other cars when delivery can be secured. Messrs. Book and Buffington are among the first residents of Badin, hav ing come here with the old Southern Aluminium Company, in the first part of 1913, and both of these gentlemen have done much to develop the town. They have believed in Badin from the start, and are going to make several other improvements in the near future. Mr. G. N. Trexler came to Badin in 1916, and is in charge of the telephone department of the company here. We predict a large business for this firm, and congratulate these three gen tlemen in giving Badin a modern garage. Occupies New Home The Bank of Badin is now occupying its new home on Falls Road, and can boast of one of the most modern bank buildings in this section of the State. The officers of this institution are to be congratulated upon their progres sive spirit, and their faith in the growth of our town. Altho it is one of the youngest banks in this section, it pos sesses the most beautiful and best ap pointed* building of any bank in the county. The officers of the bank are: R. L. Smith, president; J. W. Frazier, vice- president; John W. Cox, cashier. All three of these gentlemen are well-known men of the county, and are leaders in their different lines of work, and Badin is indeed fortunate in securing such men to direct the affairs of the bank. The second floor of the bank build ing contains four modern offices—one of which is occupied by the news and business offices of The Badin Tribune.
