BADIN BULLETIN Page Nine A# jMf SPORTS ■n* ■uf Baseball The baseball season is opening auspi ciously for the Badin team. Out of three games played against outside ' teams, we have won two. And in the third game,' which was played against a strong team from Winston-Salem, the local boys showed such staying and hit ting qualities that^all the fans were joy ous, filling the air with^shouts that must have made Albemarle wonder what was going on. Most of the “old reliables” are back again, and showing good form, while (^>^thers are to come. The new material showing up in fine shape. Jackson at short is strengthening the infield, and his hitting is fast becoming a feature to be counted upon. Keith pitched a magnificent game against the Winston- Salem team, and if it had not been for their two successive home-runs in that weird second inning, he would hdve sent them back with a goose egg as a result of their visit. What’s wrong with the departmental teams? Here’s where we have the best and most interesting baseball of the sea son. Let’s get busy, and see what sort of mettle the new line-up shows: Summaries of games: Kannapolis vs. Badin at Kannapolis, April 23 R H E adin 2 0000000 3— 5 11 4 Kannapolis 00000073 x—10 10 4 Rockwell tfs. Among the men almost all of last season’s good play ers are showing up on the courts: Moore, Wake, Richards, Thorpe, Rice, Liles, and the others. We miss the faces and fine playing of Wagner and Nueb- ling, and the easy, brilliant game of Foster Brown. ‘ The ladies are beginning to come out in force, and we have the pleasure of seeing, among others Mrs. Thorpe, Miss Whitley, Mrs. Wake, Miss Green, and Miss Whitson. Badin’s Picture Plays The new picture-play management seems to please the Badin public, judg ing from the crowds that attend the per formances. Mr. Herbert 0. Sink, man ager, is up-to-the-minute and “on the job” when it comes to selecting an in teresting. and varied assortment of plays and picture features for the movie devotees of Badin. Some very striking new films will be shown in our big theater at an early date. Mr. D. Mangum of Uniontown, has come to Badin to make his home.
