Hereafter the Falls and Narrows men 1 change shifts the same day. The Narrows men change shifts the last of July, so as to be ready to change with the Falls men next time they change— the idea being to let the men know each shift at each plant. This will help great ly in case of any trouble. The men at each plant will know better what to do by knowing each other and how to keep th’ngs going. Mr. L. B. Ward and his face is back with us installing meters and small transformers on the 2300-volt line which pulls the city water pumps. It seems that somebody has got the idea that meters should be on the city water pump motors, to show how much power is used. The recent rain has brought the lake elevation back up to its' maximum height, 541, tipping the top of the tain ter gates. The gross headwater is approx imately 180 feet, varying slightly ac cording to the load that station pulls. There has been enough rain in the month of July to hold the lake elevation at its maximum height for a month or more. The highest temperature showed up July 25, between noon and 3.30 p. m. Inside temperature was 34°C, with both exhaust fans running and all ventilators open. The temperature on the armature of No. 1 unit was up around 88°C. The station was only carrying a light load of forty-five thousand kilowatts—fifteen thousand kilowatts on each unit. Vacation period is now on, and has been for some time. V. 0. Moore, G. C.
