Page Four BADIN BULLETIN pany, Minneapolis, as Assistant Engi neer, and remained with that company until June, 1907, at which time he came to the Aluminum Company of America. JAMES W. RICKEY work faithfully, and at the same time was hustling for something better. In a short time, scarcely more than a month, he had secured a clerkship in the office of the superintendent of the Northern Pacific Railroad. But this was not the career that he wanted to follow. In 1896, he obtained, after considerable effort, his first real job—the position of Principal Assistant Engineer with the Lake Superior Power Company, at Sault Ste. Marie. It is possible that James Rickey did not know much more about engineering than the average bright young man who has had good training in a first-rate technical school—he does not admit that he knew as much as that. However, the important point is this; what he did not actually know he more than made up by strict application to work and hard study at night. He “put it across.” In 1897, Mr. Rickey went with the St. Anthony Falls Waterpower Com Hospital Association Reopens The Hospital Association was one year old in July, and the opinion of its mem bers is that it is well worth while. The association was not formed for the pui’- pose of making money, but as one in ducement to the employees to go to the hospital when they are sick, and in that way receive better care and treatment than they could otherwise. If when a mother is sick she would go to the hospital her needs would receive immediate attention, she would have ab solute rest and quiet, and be entirely free from the worry and care of the home and the family. Perhaps the house and children wiH not be kept as clean, but this will be more than balanced by the permanent benefit to the mother. In the case oi the father or child, they will get much better attention than at home, and with' out putting a heavy burden on the wife> who already has plenty to do. To the single men and women, it af fords a place to which they can go when seriously sick, where they will not b® a care and burden to their probably al ready overworked landlady. Some folks associate a hospital with pain, sorrow, and death, while as a mat ter of fact there is an atmosphere oi cheerfulness, relief, and happiness about the place that can only be appreciated by a visit thereto. Friday, August 27, from two to si^ p. m., has been designated as Visitors Day, and we hope every man and womai' in Badin who has not already visited the hospital will do so then. It was built for you, so you would be assured of proper care and attention at the time you need them most. Application for Membership It has, therefore, been decided to opei^ the Association for New Members. applications must be made at the offi^^® of the Rent, Light, and Water Depart ment prior to September 1, 1920, with the understanding, however, that the Company reserves the right to reject all applications unless a total of one huO' dred or more are received. All appli*^^' tions must be accompanied by the first month’s dues, as outlined in the follow ing rules and regulations, and in case the applicant is not accepted the initi^^^ payment will be returned.
