In a well-played game, on Wednesday,
August 18, Badin defeated Crossroads 3
to 1. Vann and Cress, both Southpaws,
pitched good ball, with Vann having the
better support. Badin hit Cress for six
safeties, one of them being a home run
by Rees.
Score by innings:
Crossroads 000 000 001
Badin 002 010 OOx
Albemarle received a bad beating in
the game played on Saturday, August 21,
Badin scoring fifteen runs while Albe
marle collected but four. York pitched
a two-hit game, and his teammates
batted three Albemarle pitchers freely.
Coupled with York’s fine pitching was
some of the best fielding seen here this
year, Badin playing errorless ball behind
the big pitcher.

Cooleemee came here for two games,
on Monday and Tuesday, August 23 and
24, and by superior hitting won the first
game, eight to three. The first five
nings furnished good baseball, but tim^'
ly hitting coupled with poor fielding eW'
abled Cooleemee to win easily in the
four innings. Vann pitched well enough
to win in the second game, but an error
at a critical moment in the fourth
ning presented Cooleemee with enough
runs to win. The visitors had a strong
aggregation of semi-pro. ball play^^®’
yet Badin did not compare so unfavor^
bly with their more experienced rivals-
The Winston-Salem White Sox lost to
Badin on Saturday, August 28, when
team made eleven hits for eight run®^
the Sox registering but five, for one, o
the combined work of York and Va^n
Godfrey led for Badin, with three out o^
four. Good baserunning also helped ^
swell the score. Norwood, in
used his speed, scoring from second ^
an infield out at first.
