Admission for university students and cadets is 50 cents, one ticket admitting holder to both the afternoon and evening events. Re served seats are 75 cents. Navy of Annapolis is favored for top honors with North Caro lina, Duke, Virginia, and Georgia Tech in the runner-up positions. The remainder of the 16 teams, all of which have entered only their top performers, are Ala bama, Davidson, New River, N. C. State, Pennsylvania State Teach ers, South Carolina, Virginia, Vir ginia Marine Base, V. M. I., and V. P. I. All the winning marks will go down as new Southern open rec ords, but judging from the field, several of them should surpass the former Conference figures. While the Navy Pre-Flight team has the second highest number of entries—North Carolina is first— there are no established stars among the group. The meet itself, though, will be unusually fast bringing together the cream of Dixie's track stars. The only Pre-Flighter with pre vious college track experience is Robert Gorman, who captained Dartmouth's football team in 1941, and who was a three-year letter- man in track. He will participate in the broad jump. Other Pre-Flighters who may cause the favorites trouble are H. S. Bunting and H. P. Hancock in the polevault, J. S. Kissel in the distance events, and E. R. High man for the opposition was Ken Gunning, a former Indiana University ace, who had 10 points. Coach of the officers’ team is Lt. (jg) Whitey Kendall, who played guard on the team. He is a former Davis-Elkins star. Officers, Wives Invited To Sing with Local Chorus Officers of the Pre-Flight School and their wives are invited and urged by the executive committee of the Chapel Hill Choral Club to join in the rehearsals preparatory to the singing of the University’s annual commencement concert on May 30. Those interested are asked to be present for the rehearsals which begin next Monday evening at 1930 in the Choral Room of Hill Music Hall. John Toms is con ductor of the chorus. The splendid demonstration of this Physical Train ing Program to the visiting dignitaries of the State of North Carolina, has brought forth much favorable comment, both in the press and from the individuals who participated in the tour of inspection. The deportment and appearance of the Officers, Crew, and Regiment of Cadets were in accordance with the fine reputation already established at this Pre-Flight School and in keeping with high Navy traditions. 2. The Commanding Officer compliments the Regiment of Cadets (the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th Battalions) and the 8th V-5 Instructors’ Indoctrination School. 3. The Commanding Officer is cognizant of the detailed organization work and arrangements incident to the success of this official visit and inspection, and commends Lieut, Comdr. James P.
