Commanding Officer Lieut. Comdr. James P. Raugh, USNR Executive Officer Lieut. Kidd Brewer, USNR Public Relations Officer ★ Editor: Ensign Leonard Eiserer, USNR Associate Editor: Orville Campbell, Y3c By Lieut. Eric H. Arendt Chajdain Corps, USN A week from Sunday an opportunity will be given to the Episcopal cadets to attend a Communion Service in their own church. The response to this opportunity has always been great. The expressions of appreciation for the oppoi'tunity have always been many. Ca dets who go to this service at the Episcopal Church will form in their regular fashion and, as usual, proceed to Memorial Hall. After the Navy Service has progressed to a point fol lowing the “Navy Hymn,” the cadets going to the Episcopal Church will depart in time to attend this service at 1030. This will also be Communion Sunday at the General Protestant Service. During this period of Lent when we are all more conscious of our Christian obligations, this can be a very mean ingful gesture. There has been a very definite turn toward matters of religion in our Navy. This comes, not only from my own observations but is substantiated by the chaplains who have been “out there,” many of whom have lost their ships. Even in the most difficult conditions, the various commanding officers have seen a value in the opportunity for religious expression and have leaned heavily upon their chaplains in their capacity as “assistant for morale.” And why not? The very principles for which the United Nations are fighting are those freedoms which are the essence of Jesus’ teach ings. Of course there is response to religion! Remember, it is the church pennant only that flies above the National Ensign. Lieut. Hatcher to Review Book Lieut. Harlan H. Hatchei’, USNR, instructor in ENS and nationally known author, will be guest speaker at the Pre-Flight Women’s Club meeting in Lenoir Hall, next Wednesday at 1445.
