(jg) Leonard Eiserer, USNR Associate Editor: Orville Campbell, Y2c By Chaplain Geo. W. Cummins, Chaplain Corps, USNR Chaplain Grewenow, your former chaplain, has shoved off for places unknown. He has left with the best of good wishes from the cadets, crew and officers. His work aboard this station was appreciated by all and each will welcome an oppoi’tunity to serve with him as a shipmate in the future. I express my grate fulness for his fine help in getting me started in my new duty. Your present chaplain realizes the im portant work that is being done here at the Pre-Flight School in Chapel Hill and is aware of the intense program of training. He counts it a real privilege to be considered a part of this great program which is making such a fine contribution to the war effort. It is such a program as this with its fine spirit of co operation and determination to get the job done that is going to make victory a reality. As a minister of God, and chaplain, it is my task to “bring God to men and men to God,”—to help men with spiritual problems and counsel them—^to point the way to spiritual freedom through Jesus Christ and to help in whatever way I can is certainly a great op portunity, responsibility and privilege. I do hope that all men will come to look upon me as their chaplain and will feel free to call upon me whenever I can be of service. Three sailors entered a roadside bar and looking around cautiously, made their way to the bartender, who straightened up and stood waiting for their orders. “I’ll take a coke,” said the first. The bar tender looked at the man on the next stool. “I’ll take an orangeade,” was the quiet and dignified reply. Disgust written on his ugly face, the bar tender glared at the third. “Just a glass of water for me,” was the re quest. “I’m driving.” “What a relief seeing you again,” comment ed the platoon officer to the tardy cadet. “The rumor got around that you had signed a sep arate peace.” Sunday Divine Services Protestant 1000 Memorial Hall Roman Catholic 0616 Gerrard Hall 1000 Hill Music HaU Jewish 1000 Graham Memorial • « • Chaplain’s Office Hours: Daily, 0S30-1700; Monday and Wednesday, 0830-1800.
