Cummins Chaplain Corps, USNR Rules of a Good Life Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another. Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of the saints; given to hospitality. Bless them which persecute you: bless and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own con ceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.— Romans 12:9-17. ^ ^ ^ The idea of a master race chosen by God to impose its will on the members of other races is un-Christian. Christianity tells us that the true aristocracy is the aristocracy of the human spirit, and that the true leaders are the great souls who command our love and loyalty, through sheer nobility of char acter and faithfulness to the eternal prin- Cruising with Covey By David Y. Coverston, Ylc, USNR Hot? Like to go swimming in the old swim ming hole? Well, so would a lot of us, but since the exigencies of the service will not per mit a return to the cooling depths of old haunts for a while, we might as well find a substitute, and the substitute in this case is really a re markable product. We're referring, of course, to the outdoor swimming pool built last year just behind Woollen Gymnasium. Made of the finest tile available, and filled with filtered water, it is one of the most popular places in Chapel Hill these torrid days. In order to gain entrance to the pool, how ever, certain requirements must be met, among which are the following: A season ticket and a physical examination are the requirements. The former may be pur chased at the University’s South Building lo cated right across the street from the Old Well and next door to the YMCA any day except Sunday. The information desk is the place, and the hours are from 0830 until 1200, and from 1400 until 1500. With the season ticket, which includes the use of a towel each visit, comes a card which states your physical condition, the examina tion having to be made by a practicing phy sician, Naval or civilian. When the ticket has been purchased and the physical examination taken, the rest is up to you, admittance to the pool being given upon presentation of the season ducat. Hours at the pool for both Naval and civilian personnel are from 1700 until 2030 Mondays through Fridays, from 1515 until 1800 on Sat urdays, and from 1400 until 1800 on Sundays. Beginning June 12th, a class will be held in the indoor pool for children who do not know how to swim on Mondays through Saturdays from 1115 until 1200. That seems to be the dope, so come on down. The rules apply to all Naval personnel and civilians. ciples of God which govern all life. History has given us many men of this sort, who have each caught a spark from the Supreme Leader of history, Jesus Christ Himself. In Him alone can we find the example, the inspiration and the power to become sufficiently masters of ourselves and of our world to build that “new order of the centuries” of which our founders dreamed.
