Cloudbusters Score Week’s Biggest Upset
Defeat Naval
Academy^ 21-14
At Annapolis
An underdog U. S. Navy Pre-
Flight football team I’ose to un
expected heights last Saturday af
ternoon at Annapolis, defeating
the famed Naval Academy team,
21 to 14.
Otto Graham, Stan Koslowski
and Frank Aschenbrenner re
ceived most of the headlines in the
victory, but it can be said, truth
fully, that every Cloudbuster who
saw action played an important
role in the outcome.
At the ends Warren Anderson,
Melbourne Sheehan, Wally Schu
macher and Wayne Harding did
yeoman work throughout. The
tackle spots were handled by
George Lorentz, Ben Lum, Ray
Bray, Leland Yager, George
Copeland and Dan Williams. Ker-
mit Atkinson, Gene Flick, Austin
Gandy, and Bill Clements were the
guard standouts, and Joe Part
ington, Wesley Coleman and
Ralph Huneycutt did a fine job
at center.
The starting backfield of Otto
Graham, Spec Sanders, Bill Wil
son and Stan Koslowski got fine
relief work from J. T. Levay, Buell
St. John, Dan Weitekamp and
Frank Aschenbrenner. Only Gra
ham played the full 60 minutes.

Tackle Duke
At Durham
Duke’s Blue Devils, always a
gridiron powerhouse, will play
host to ttie Cloudbusters this after
noon at 1500 in Durham. A crowd
of 25,000 is expected.
All week the Pre-Flighters have
been working for today’s encoun

linger, head mentor, announced the
team at top physical strength. No
one was hurt in the Naval Acad
emy game last week.
Duke has two veteran backs in
the persons of Gordon Carver and
Tom Davis. It was Carver who
scored the Blue Devil’s winning
touchdown over Georgia Tech last
year. Davis, who will be one of
the outstanding backs on the field,
participated in Duke’s last Rose
Bowl encounter and emerged one
of the stars. Only recently he was
discharged from the Marines.
At the ends Duke will have
Reece Harry and Clark Jones, both
good on defense and offense.
Tackles will be played by Frank
Irwin and John Kerns.
The guard spots will be handled
by Garland Wolfe, and Ernie
