The amount of chargebacks fron the tire plants appears to be trending downward. One of the tire plant’s concerns has been the quality of the fabric at the sliell. Gastonia has been reimbursing them for the fabric that could not be used. It was detemdned that fiberglass headers will reduce the scrap at the shell by more than half, frcm IS to 5 yards. IteK Hoines Vias repiirted Hiat our nylon styles have improved and that their scrap has been reduced. Gates approved Gastonia as a source of treated diaphragm fabric. Gastonia has been supplying grelge fabric, but now we will be supplying the complete package. Gates and DuPont have agreed with Gastonia on tinting Gates’ nylon which will reduce the chances of mixing tte nylon with the polyester. The West End business remains strong and everyone is looking forward to the arrival of five more looms.
