PLANT MANAGER’S MESSAGE
By: J. Anand
The new plan't project is on
schedule. Work to prepare the site
for construction began September
15. The design details of the plant
should have been completed by
September 8 and actual construction
start is targeted for October 19.
The Learning Center located on 321
South is humming with activity.
Eight instructors wera salectad and
they are in the process of receiving
education and developing working
standards. These instructors will
eventually use these working
standards for training all other
employees.
Thanks to the efforts of all
employees in increasing our
productivity and lowering waste. A
new productivity record was set in
August (51.2 Lb/MH). Waste for tire
cord for the month of August was
0.85% which is also the lowest and
ties the record set in June 1992.
Congratulations!
Our Industrial Fabrics business is
surely picking up and we have orders
for additional products. The 19th
Dornier loom will be arriving in mid
December. We will shortly be looking
at options to further increase
capacity in this area. Keep up the
good work and the high quality
standards.

PARTNERSHII- '92
By: Mike Roland
Our plant was represented very well
by the SCRAM Team at Partnership '92
in Hopewell, Virginia. The five
individuals representing Gastonia
were JUSTINE JETER, MARGARET
WHITAKER, DEREE WATSON, MACIE GARREN,
and CATHEY TATE. The entire Splicing
Department and SCRAM Team deserve a
special thanks for their hard work on
reducing splice failures.
Congratulations to every Process
Improvement Team at the Gastonia
Plant. We are all winners because of
you.
SCRAM would also like to thank MR.
RAMSEY and MR. ANAND for making their
trip possible.
SPECIAL NOTICE!i
There seems to be some confusion
about what does and does not count
against the annual bonus, as far as
absenteeism is concerned.
Leave of absence for any reason,
medical, personal or whatever, counts
against us in the bonus.
At this time we have nine people on
leave of absence.
