THE PIEDMONITOR Vol. 1 No. 4 July 1, 1951 - JUNE TRAFFIC - Total passenger count for the month of June amounted to 19,237. This is 2,227 above quota! And the load factor reached the all time high of 57%. That’s good going - and with the 4th of July coming up next month should be even better - we hope! - “OPERATIONS CINCINNATI” - L. W. Golson You ought to see the show Radio Station WFLB in Fayetteville puts on the air once each week. It’s a quiz program for the Fort Bragg military personnel. The entire program is built around a large Piedmont system map - 8’ X 12’, All contestants start at Fayetteville, and as they answer the questions correctly they are advanced one stop in the direction of Cincinnati. The contestant who reaches CVG first is the big winner. Many prizes are given away on this program, one of which is an over-night trip to Cincinnati, via PAI. While in Cincinnati the lucky contestant is furnished accomodations at the Gibson Hotel, a meal at the Colony Restuarant, and an evening’s entertainment, including dinner, at the famous Look-Out House. This program has been on the air since April 3, 1951, and is still going strong. It is sponsored by Sterling Jewelers, Quinn and Miller Furniture Company, and Wallace Motors, all Fayetteville firms, and Edwards Cleaners of Fort Bragg. I am sure that those of you who have witnessed the show will agree that Charlie Gaylord, the M.C., does an outstanding job. - RECORDAK SECTION - M. F. Fare The Accounting Department has obtained CAB permission to substitute photographic copies for the originals of various reports and records, which will result in much space-saving at the General Offices-INT. With the use of the Recordak installation, reports from stations, including sales reports, and auditors coupons, are now being photographed by the micro filming process. All passenger manifests, mail, freight, and express forms are being thusly preserved as a permanent record. Becky MITCHELL fell heir to this new piece of equipment, and, as Chief Operator, is busy “catching up” on the records of the past three years - in a private office - if you please - the one vacated by W. W. BARBER and Margaret TISE, who have moved to the Maintenance Hangar. sic # >i=: :4s s!« See Page 61 - Aviation Week Magazine - June 25th issue - picture and description of PAI’s DC-3 Sky Lounge. ^ sjt s{t sjt - CARGO - N. K. Arnold We still have a good supply of Air Mail Stickers on hand. They are useful as a give-away item, over the counter, and even at Post Offices. How many can you use?....Congratulations to FAY for boarding more Air Mail in May than any other station. They averaged 263 lbs per day....CVG, as usual, loaded tons of cargo - 34 tons to be exact. That’s a lot of cargo, fellows!... Flowers are Flying; They are very delicate air passengers. Let’s take special care of them. They seem to cost more dead than they do alive - let’s keep ’em well and happy,.. Air Express rates have gone up and Air Freight minimums just went up again.
