SHEET METAL NEWS By Ken Whapham With the men of Sheet Metal burning the midnight oil. Champion Sparkplug's DC-3 was reconverted to the satisfaction of Capt. Ken Colthorpe and the Plug men of Toledo. The reconversion involved rework of radio, new buffet, enlargement of all windows including 4 picture windows. The interior was finished in imported Scotch brown leather, plastic 'off white' head linerwith green upholstery. Aneat looking airplane a source of great satisfaction to the men of Sheet Metal, whose workmanship was praised by a satisfied customer. Now the real test has begun, the recon version of ALCOA's DC-3. With the full co-operation of ALCOA this airplane is going to be a masterpiece of showmanship, with an interior to end all interiors, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating and we have a great deal of hard work be fore us.
