PAGE FOUR THE PIEDMONITOR JUNE, 1962 On the preceding page the last passenger to fly a DC-3 out of LEX was pictured. Above is the crew of that flight, shown as they prepare to originate the run in CVG. Station Manager Ed Laskowski sends Capt. “Pappy" Wilkes off with a handshake. Capt. Wilkes flew the first scheduled Piedmont flight out of CVG on February 20, 1948, and Laskowski was then one of the Agents. Participating in the send-off were (left to right) Flight Attendant D. L. Caudle, First Officer E. J. Kutilek, Wilkes, Laskowski, Agent W. J, Jacobs, Lead Agent E. D. Akard, and Radio Technician L. C. Hundley. Maintenance personnel in the background are (left to right) J. Mrs. Alex Yanovick arrived via Flight II in Charles ton after traveling from Budapest, Hungary. She was met by her hus band who had arranged her transportation to the United States. They had been able to see each other only once in 45 years. The Yanovicks will settle in Whitesville, W. Va.
