(Continued from Page One) Kiger to ECG The Elizabeth City station will be manned by Claude Kiger, taking over from Reggie Powell, who is transferring to Louisville. He was born in Winston-Sa lem, N. C. and attended school there. During his service with the Marine Corps he was awarded five Battle Stars, the Purple Heart with Star, and the Bronze Star. Following his military service Kiger was employed by the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. In 1954 he joined Piedmont Airlines as an Agent, and in 1958 was pro moted to Chief Agent at the Greensboro-High Point station. For the last 15 months he has been serving as Assistant Man ager in Lynchburg. Kiger is married to the former Catherin E. Dendy of Greenville, S. C., and they have one son. O'Bryan to CAE Columbia will have W. J. O’Bryan as its new Station Manager. He and his family come to the city from Richmond. O’Bryan is from Roanoke, Va., and attended public schools and the National Business College there. He was employed by Pied mont in 1952 as a Utility Agent at the Roanoke station. After serving for a time in Charlottes ville, Va., he returned to Roa noke, and in 1960 was promoted to Lead Agent and transferred to Richmond, Va. In 1961 he was made Chief Agent and served in this capacity until his appoint ment as Station Manager in Co lumbia. He is active in the Young Roanoke Sings Foundation and in several other choral groups. He received a music scholarship from the Foundation shortly after graduation from high school. O’Bryan is married to the former Darleen Lee of Roanoke, and they have a daughter, Kathryn Ellen. The balance of Piedmont’s Co lumbia staff will include Chief Agent Frank Beasley, transfer ring from Cincinnati, and Agents E. H. Casey, G. J. Callicoat, J. A. Lawrence, and H. B. Hurley. Casey and Callicoat are transfer ring from Huntington, Lawrence from Bluefield, and Hurley from Cincinnati. Parrish to ATL Bruce E. Parrish has been appointed Manager for Atlan ta, largest of the new cities to be served. A transfer from Louisville, Parrish was brought up in Golds boro, and attended school there and at Kings College of Business, Raleigh, N. C. He also took spe cial training at the Central Air lines Training and Technical In stitute, Kansas City, Mo. He joined Piedmont in 1948 after serving two, years in the U. S. Navy. His first assignment was at Piedmont’s Raleigh-Dur- ham station as an Agent. In 1949 he was promoted to Station Man ager at Danville, Va., and subse quently Manager at Asheville, N. C., Fayetteville, N. C., and Louisville. Parrish is a member of the Audubon Kiwanis Club and has been Treasurer for three years; Pack Master for the Boy Scouts of America; an officer in the Progress Masonic Lodge; and President of the Standiford Field Bowling League. He is married to the former Virginia McClary of Raleigh, N. C., and they have two boys. The balance of Piedmont’s At lanta staff will include; Tommy Young, transferring from Char lotte, Lead Operations Agent; John Comer from Charleston, Chief Operations Agent; Robert Talley from Lynchburg, Chief Reservations Agent; Bob Walls from Louisville, Lead Reserva tions Agent; plus Agents H. H. Barnes, Iona Carr, W. D. Mercer, Margaret Pequignot, and Louise Ramsey. Of the Agents, Barnes is from Newport News, Miss Carr and Mercer are from Roanoke, Miss Pequignot is from Cincinnati, and Mrs. Ramsey is from Win ston-Salem. Powell to SDF The new replace ment for Bruce Parrish in Louis ville will be Reg gie Powell, former head of the Elizabeth City sta tion. He is a native of Aulander, N. C. and attended school there and in Norfolk, Va., and took additional training at the Uni versity of California Extension in Tokyo. Powell served in the U. S. Air Force from 1947 to 1951, and joined Piedmont shortly after his discharge, initially serving as a Flight Attendant. In 1952 he transferred to Norfolk as a Sta tion Agent, and was promoted to Chief Agent three years later. In 1961 he was transferred to his latest position, that of Station Manager in Elizabeth City, N. C. He is a member of the Eliza beth City Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, the Masonic Or der Corinthian Lodge No. 266 A. F. & A. M., Norfolk, and is holder of a private pilot’s li cense. S- ; Ml Powell is married to the form er Lois Rica of Norfolk, and they have a son and a daughter. Shanks I to BAL a Baltimore will 3 have Don Shanks II as Station Mana- ger. He is making ^ the move from Parkersburg-Marietta. Shanks was born in Greenville, Tenn., and attended school there and at Washington College Academy, Johnson City, Tenn. He joined Piedmont in 1952 as a Utility Agent at the Tri-Cities station. In 1953 he was promoted to Chief Agent and transferred to Columbus, Ohio, and in 1959 moved to Washington, D. C. as Chief Operations Agent. His late^St transfer was made in 1960 to Parkersburg-Marietta where he was Station Manager. Shanks is a member of the Greater Parkersburg Chamber of Commerce, the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce, the Parkersburg Rotary Club, the Mid-Ohio Valley Traffic Club, the Toastmasters Club, and the Masonic Lodge No. 489 F.&A.M., Limestone, Tenn. He is married to the former Betty Lee Keys of Telford, Tenn., and they have two sons and a daughter. The balance of Piedmont’s Baltimore staff will include Chief Agent Hank Isenbath, transferring from Cincinnati, and from Charleston, Agents Edward Smoot and G. A. Scherer. Smith to AGS Dave Smith will be the head of the new station in Au gusta. He had pre viously been serv ing as Lead Agent in Louisville. Smith was born in Winston- Salem, N. C., and attended school there. In 1948 he joined the U. S. Navy for a four-year tour of duty. After his discharge he worked at Brownlow’s, Inc., and in 1953 started as an Agent with Piedmont at Winston-Salem. In 1955 he transferred to Pied mont’s Louisville, Ky. station and three years later was moved to Asheville, N. C., where he was promoted first to Lead Agent, and in 1960, to Chief Agent. A member of the Western North Carolina Traffic Club, Smith is married to the former Helen Currin, also of Winston- Salem. They have a son and a daughter, and at present make their home at Oak Park, Arden, N. C. The balance of Piedmont’s Au gusta staff will include Chief Agent Jack Cluck, transferring from Frankfort, Ky., and Agents C. E. Miller, Cody Reynolds, and Jim McNeill. Miller is transfer ring from Elizabeth City, Reyn olds from Cincinnati, and Mc Neill from Winston-Salem. Ward to PSK Milt Ward has been named Man- a g e r for the sta tion serving Pu laski - Radford- Blacksburg. Ward’s hometown is Johnson City, Tenn. He went to school there and at Watauga Academy, Butler, Tenn. After serving three years with the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II, he attended Milligan College in Johnson City. He has been with Piedmont since 1951, working in Tri-Cities as an Agent and as Lead Agent until his present promotion. Ward is a Deacon of the West- side Christian Church, Elizabeth- ton, Tenn., and for 10 years has served on the church’s Board of Directors. He is married to the former Clara Pearson of Butler, and they have two sons.
