JAs a good investment Piedmont Productions may not be on the New York Stock Ex change or in any investor's portfo lio, but it will probably pay a 50 percent dividend to stockholders of record this spring, a good return for a company only seven months old. Piedmont Productions is the Winston-Salem Junior Achieve ment company sponsored by Pied mont this year. Organized in Octo ber 1980, the company has approximately 20 employees from the ninth through the twelfth grades in the Winston-Salem/For syth County schools. Their prod uct — wooden frames for posters. "They have set up a regular business and even pay wages — 40 cents an hour for those on the assembly line and a monthly sal ary for their officers," said Bill Shields, Purchasing, who is the executive advisor for the company. “They’ve sold over 325 poster frames this year, bringing in in come of over 81,000, a lot for a JA program." Five other Piedmont employees are also among the volunteers for Piedmont Productions. Bill Asher, Marketing: Ray Bridges, Industrial Engineering: Jane Weston, Ac counting: and J. B. Brogdon and Donnie Rhodes, both in CRO, have given more than 130 hours each to the project. Every Tuesday even ing, October through April, they have met at Kernersville Junior High School, counseling the stu dents on everything from market ing strategies to accounting proce dures and production.
