summer for new uniforms. In early September, the uniforms
will be shipped to service centers where employees will
come for final alterations. Switchover to the new uniforms is

New HQ adds another point to PI map
In the past five years,
the number of Piedmont
employees systemwide has
grown from 5,800 to over
17,000. And in the area
including Winston-Salem,
Greensboro, and High Point
—commonly called the
Tiriad—we now have over
5,200 employees.
Some of the changes
that have come about
in the IViad because of
our phenomenal growth
include:
• The GSO Maintenance
Facility was completed
in 1983, and an addition
opened this year.
• The GSO terminal build
ing opened in 1982 giv
ing us the opportunity
to offer our passengers
much improved service.
• In Winston-Salem, reve
nue accounting first out
grew its facilities at the
General Office and moved
to North Point. These
offices soon became in-

adequate, requiring a
move to Madison Park.
• Ticket-By-Mail moved
first out of the INT Reser
vations Center to the GO
and is now at Madison
Park.
• Last fall, our new com
puter reservations center
opened at Madison Park.
• In the summer of 1981,
the TH. Davis TYaining
Center opened its doors.
• The building that for
merly housed the Aero
space Institute is now
home for employee ser
vices such as personnel,
the pass bureau, the
print shop, and the
credit union.
• The Piedmont Gift
Shoppe moved to the
Smith Reynolds Airport
terminal building.
• Our General Aviation
Group moved into a
brand new hangar/office
complex on the site
where three old general
aviation hangars once
stood.
• City ticket offices have
opened in Greensboro
at the Holiday Inn—Four
Seasons and the Radis-
son Hotel in High Point.
• At the General Office on
Liberty Street, changes
have continually taken
place as staffs have grown,
and soon renovation will
begin as the building is
readied for more growth.
And this month, employ
ees have begun moving to
our new corporate head
quarters in Winston-
Salem, putting us in yet
another location in the
TViad. To give you a better
understanding of who’s
located where, a brief
sketch of our THad loca
tions follows:
Corporate Offices
One Piedmont Plaza
By the end of August,
over 450 people will be
located at our new head
quarters building at One
Piedmont Plaza in Winston-
Salem. Those on the sev
enth and fourth floors
moved this month, and
employees on the third,
fifth and sixth floors will
move in August.
On the seventh floor are
President and Chief Execu
tive Officer Bill Howard:
our five senior vice presi
dents; offices for the con
troller, assistant treasurer,
and vice president-
customer relations; and
our entire corporate
planning and legal
departments.
The fourth floor houses
passenger services, public
affairs, facilities, passenger
procedures, properties and
leases, cargo services, and
reservations services: and
the fifth floor, customer
relations, and pricing and
yield management.
On the third floor will
be employee relations,
security, and part of pur
chasing. In addition, Tfed
Celentino, vice president-
computer and communi
cations services, will
maintain an office here as
well as at Madison Park.
Marketing—including air
line scheduling, charter
and convention sales, agen
cy sales and tour devel
opment, sales promotion,
research, advertising, sales,
cargo sales, meetings and
convention sales, and mar
keting services—will take
over the sixth floor.
In addition. Piedmont’s
main mailroom is now
located on the ground floor
of this building.
Other floors will be occu
pied as space becomes
available.

Piedmont Syracuse
Reach agreement
Piedmont President Bill Howard and Syracuse
Mayor Tbm Young announced that the City had
withdrawn its lawsuit against Piedmont and signed
a 15-year lease for an expanded Piedmont passenger
terminal and other facilities at Hancock Interna
tional Airport during a press conference on the steps
of Syracuse City Hall July 1.
The agreement paved the way for Piedmont to
expand the air service hub begun in Syracuse by
Empire, and for Piedmont to establish a crew base at
Syracuse, along with expanded cargo and commis
sary facilities.
After approval by the Syracuse Common Council,
construction is expected to begin later this summer
