Around the Group More to choose from at Piedmont Shoppes Piedmont to terminate Brockway agreement Dallas-based Metro Airlines has completed its $14.2 million purchase of Brock way Air Inc., New York, and Brockway Air Inc., Vermont. Subsequently, the marketing agreement with Piedmont Airlines will be terminated on June 30. The Aviation Daily (April 12,1989) reported that a combination of the two units, to be known as Metro Airlines Northeast, will become part of TWExpress feeder-carrier network on July 1. The two feeder carriers provide scheduled service to 23 northeastern cities in six states with a fleet of 17 twin-eng^e Saab 340s and Beech 1900s. USAir/Piedmont keyed in with Amadeus USAir and Piedmont began distributing flights through Amadeus global travel distribution earlier this month. Amadeus, a major European computer reservations system (CRS) founded by Air France, Iberia, Lufthansa, and SAS, covers 60 percent of the European travel market. Through Amadeus direct access—a component of the Amadeus One package— Piedmont and USAir may now be accessed on approximately 16,000 travel agency computers in eight European countries. Piedmont expands TPA operation Piedmont will increase daily departures at TPA from 36 to 43 on June 1 with the introduction of nonstop roundtrips between TPA-DCA and TPA-PNS (twice daily), and expand nonstops roundtrips betweenTPA-MIA (from five to eight flights daily) and TPA-JAX (from four to five daily). Starting June 15, Piedmont will introduce nonstop jet service between MLB-CLT, with three daily roundtrips. Henson Aviation, TTie Piedmont Regional Airline, will continue to operate three daily roundtrip flights between MLB-MCO, and two between MLB-TPA. In addition. Piedmont will boost its PNS service beginning June 1 with three daily PNS-CLT nonstop roundtrips. PIT blood drive hopes to draw record crowd USAir wUl sponsor a two-day blood drive in PIT on May 10 and 11. With the cooperation of all our labor groups and the Moon Township School District, organizers of the drive are hoping to set the record for the most blood collected in a two-day drive. USAir employees, family members, school district employees, and community members are invited. The locations for the May 10 drive are the Hangar 5 lunch room between 3 a.m. and 8 p.m, and on the airport terminal mezzanine between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Day two of the drive will take place at the Moon High School auditorium on Beers School Road, between 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Door prizes and free cholesterol testing will be available for all donors.
