THE GALAX NFWS JULY 2^. 19^2 PAGE ^ PICNIC AND VESPERS Members of the Methodist Youth Youth Fellowship and Presbyterian Youth Fellowship enjoyed a picnic and vesper service on Sunset Rocks last Sunday evening. After the ves per they enjoyed singing and games at the Ravenel home.Approximately 60 people attended. ♦♦♦PERSONALS*** Miss Bonnie Jo Gardner of Gainsville,Ga., and Miss Mariljm Bennett of Spartanburg,S.C«, were week-end guests of Miss Mary Bascom Cook. Mr. O.F. Summer spent Monday in Charlotte arranging bookings of motion pictures for the remainder of the summer and early fall. Mr. W.Co Newton visited his parents Mr. and Mrs. H.C, Newton of Washington, D.C., over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Newton celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary Sunday, July 20th. Miss Ann Stevens has returned from Penland, N.C. where she attends ed the Handicrafts School, learning gem-cutting and jewelry-making. Allen Byers has returned home from Folly Hill.S.C. where he has been visiting his grandmother.Allen is helping his mother in Byers Men^s Shop. Mr. and Mrs. James A, Blakely spent the week-end in Winston- Salem where they visited relatives and friends. Mrs. J. Ao Riggsbee has re turned to her home in Durban,N.Co after a visit with her daughter Mrs. Sherman Pace. Mrs.Mae Passmore who was bitten by a copperhead snake has been a patient at Highlands Community Hospital. Mrs. Harry Holt was a patient at Highlands Community Hospital. Mrs. Ema Emgstrom of Coral Gables,Fla. was a recent patient at Highlands Community Hospital. Mr. Ed Rogers is a patient at Highlands Community Hospital. TO ATTEND COLLEGE Policeman James Blakely is planning to attend Western Caro lina Teachers College at Cullo- whee beginning this fall. He is intrested in providing transpor tation to any student who may wish to drive back and forth with him. He plans to drive back and forth daily.
