SPONSORED BY HIGHLANDS GflRDEn CLUB BLAKLEYS MOVE TO CHAPEL HILL Mr. and Mrs. James Blakley and son, Barry, have moved to Chapel Hill, N.Co where Mr. Blakley will enter the University of North Car olina this fall to take post-grad uate work. He is a 195? graduate of VJestern Carolina College. Mrs. Blakley was formerely em ployed as office nurse to Dr. Bittle at Highlands Community Hospital. TOURING EUROPE Hugh Sargent, former curator of the Highlands Museum, is spending the summer touring Europe with college friends. He landed Satur day, June 18th, in LeHavre, France. His father, Dr. Ralph M. Sargent, will Join Hugh and his friends in England around August 1st. They plan to hike across The Roman Wall in Northern England and they will visit Oxford, Cambridge, Stratford- On-Avon, and London. They will re turn to Quebec the last of August. Inter-Church Group Meeting con^. soring a community recreation pro gram for young people, and it was decided that it would be desirable to work with the town officials in improving the present recreation program. Various projects were discussed, among them lighting the outside play area for night use, and im proving and beautifying the recrea tion facilities. The Inter-Church Group also voted to ask the va rious church boards to discuss the matter of voting some supplemen tary funds for the purpose of buy ing equipment. A committee was set up to work with the toynn officials in this project. Members of the committee are Tudor Hall, ToBo Picklesimer, and Paul V/alden. The Inter-Church Group also vote to sponsor a series of week-night forums or lectures during the latte part of the summer. They plan to invite outside speakers for these programs. A committee, composed of R.T. Houts, John Burnette and Bur- well Thornton, was set up for this purpose. The next meeting of the Inter- Church Group is to be a supper meeting at the Baptist Church on July 11. COMING SOON ABOUT MRS. LESLIE ROB ROY, THE HIGHLAND :R0GUE TRIP TO CHARLOTTE Mr. O.F. Summer spent Monday of this week in Charlotte buying and booking pictures for the summer season. Mrs. Margaret DuPree of Owings, S.Co is visiting her son, Rev. R.B. DuPree and family. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shearouse of Sumter, S.C. are visiting Mr. and I Mrs. C.J. Anderson and Mr. and Mrs.| F.N, Shearouse. Mrs. R.B. DuPree has been visi ting relatives in VJoodruff, S.C., and in Virginia during the past week. Bob Rice has been working for the past month on Southern Pine Beetle Control on National Forest Land near Marion, N.C. Mrs. Larry Boyd of York, S.C. is visiting her sister, Mrs. R«M.
