fifteen members of the Highlands
Rotary Club attended. The meeting
was held in the cafeteria of the
Franklin High School, and the Frank
lin Lions Club, the Sylva Rotary
Club, the Bryson City Rotary Club,
and the Andrevrs Rotary Club were al
so guests at this meeting*
After a speech of welcome by the
president of the Franklin Rotary
Club, Mr. Holland McSwain introduced
Governor Luther H, Hodges. Govs
Hodges made an address in which he
congratulated the city of Franklin
on the observance of its 100th in
corporated birthdayo He also ur
ged the people of VJestern North Car
olina to develop small industries |
using the raw materials and labor !

musical vesper service* The pro
gram will consist of numbers by the
choir, a group of organ solos by
Mrs. Ewing and vocal solos. A cor
dial invitation is extended to all
people in the community to attend
this service.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES VJEEK
The Methodist Church will spon
sor a Youth Activities Week for
young people of the church and com
munity beginning Monday night, June
27th. The program will consist of
recreation, study and church ser
vice projects. The time for these
meetings will be 8sOO o’clock each
evening. All young people of the
community are invited to attend
these meetings.
A committee, composed of Nancy
Norton, Robert Edwards and Geral
dine James, is in charge of plan
ning the activities. They will be
assisted by the pastor and a visi
ting seminary student who is devot
ing his summer to this type of
work.
MUSICAL SERVICE
On Sunday evening, June 26, at
8 o’clock Mrs. UeC. Ewing, the
Choir of the Methodist Church, and
individual soloists will present a
