Sumer made a trip to Asheville Thursday, July 4th in order to carry the motion picture film Bernardine to the Imperial Theatre# This trip was necess ary in order for Highlands to get the very early play date on Bernardine. Mr, Edward A« Rosenblatt, sound and projection engineer, of Charlotte spent several hours at the Galax Theatre a few days ago checking and adjusting the theatre equipment* Mr, Rosenblatt makes regular trips here during the sumer in order to keep the theatre in excellent working order* Mr# and Mrs. John Connell and family, of New Bern, N.C., spent the weekend with Mr, and Mrsc Eckel Roland. Mr. and ^Vs» Charles Aiken and daught ers, Carol, Debby^ and Donna, of Ec.sely, S.C., spent the Fourth of July with Mrs* Aiken*s mother Mrs. Bertha Roper. ”THE IRON PETTICOAT" CO-STARS BOB HOPE AND KATHARINE HEPBURN IN HILARIOUS SATIRE When Katharine Hepburn, as an intrepid Russian flier, tries to lure Bob' Hope from the "fetters" of capitalism and he re taliates by countering her Soviet ideology with some fast tatics in American love- msking, the laughs are long and loud in "The Iron Petticoat," on view at the Galax Iheatre Monday* This hilarious and witty spoof on the Cold War has Miss Hepburn playing Captain Vinka Kovelenko, one of Russians leading lady pilots, who inadvertently lands her plane on an American airfield in Germany* On the premise that is would be a terri fic gun in their p^chological warfare to have Vinka tw±i the truth about Communism, the Americans assign Captain Chuck Lockwood (Bob Hope) to "soften" her up* Chuck approaches the assignment with reluctance* In the first place,the severej uncori5)romising, mannishly-uniformed Vinka does not appear likely softening-up mater ial. In the second place, he's got a date in London with a girl named Connie.
