Senator Forsyth has encouraged the development of the sta- tion> recognizing that if it did not exist the State of North Carolina would have to establish and maintain one at considerable expense• Senator Forsyth is executive vice-pre sident Citizen Bank and Trust Company of Murphy, Andrews, Haysville, Robbinsville, and Sylva, He has held offices in the North Carolina Bankers Association, In his home town of Murphy, he has served as chair man of the M\irphy Electric Power System, past president of the Lions Club, member board of trustees First Methodist Church* Among his county—wide offices, he has served as chairman County Democratic Execu tive Committee, County Infantile Pralysis Committee, County Better School Committee* Since 1959 Senator Forsyth has served in the General Assembly of North Carolina, representing the thirty-third senatorial district. In the current session of the Legis lature, Senator Forsyth has served on some eleven committees. As chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, he has made an outstanding record and has served most capably on the Public Utilities Committee. Among special guests invited for the ceremonies honoring Senator Forsjrbh are his North Carolina colleagues in the Gen eral Assembly# 9^ )|C 9^ s|c 9^ Mrs, R, B, DuPree and Bobby DuPree are teaching in the summer school session being held at the high school in Walhalla, S, C, They are commuting daily.
