DEATH TAKES HENRY GLEAVELAND
Highlands was inuch saddened to hear
of the death of Henry Arthur Cleaveland^
who died early Sunday morning at
the Highlands-Cashiers Hospital after a
brief illness.
A lifelong resident of Highlands,
Mr* Cleaveland was a rural mil carrier,
member and past master of the Blue Ridge
]yiasonic Lodge k3^ and past Worthy Patron
of Chapter 28ii, Order of the Eastern
Star*

Mlarai Springs, Florida, Yir.s, Peggie
KcMeely of I'fooresville and I*lrs, June
Medlin of Albemarle.
Services were held at 3:00 p.m.
Monday in the First Presbyterian Church,
of which he was an Elder. The Rev.
Henry Mueller officiated. Ifellbearers
were the Deacons and Elders of the
Presbyterian Church.
Burial was in Highlands Memorial
I^rk Cemetery. The Blue Ridge Masonic
Lodge conducted graveside rites.
HEAD START TO BEGIN HONDAY
Head Start, the federally spons
ored program for pre-school age chil
dren, will begin Monday, June 23rd,
at Highlands School, and last through
August 8th, with a week*s vacation
for the Fourth of July. Children mil
report to school at 9:00 a.m. and will
be released at 1:00 p.m. Lunch will
be served.
Mrs, Dick Potts will be the head
teacher for the program, assisted by
l^s. Billy Ifewton. Ifrs. Tom James
will be in charge of the lunchroom.
The purpose of Head Start is to acquaint
the youngsters with school life and
schedules; informal teaching methods
will be used.

BIOLOGICAL STATION PLANS
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
The Highlands Biological Station
will again conduct an educational
program at the Miseum of Natural Hist
ory located on the Horse Cove Hoad.
Children between the ages of 6 and lU
can learn about the wildlife of the
Highlands area through films, field
trips, and other activities.
There is no charge for children
