Other participants were; linda Aranons, Mary Norton Eress Shop5 Dotty Dendy, Bill’s Soda Shop; Mary Lee Thompson, Anne's Beauty Shopj Pam Thompson, Town House Jfetelj Eliza beth Worley, King's Inn; and Robin Potts, George Schmitt. Allen Still was Ikster of Ceremonies. He questioned each girl as to how long she had lived in Highlands, future plans, and the generation gap. Mayor Claude Patterson croT^med Mss Highlands, and also gave her a trophj^. I'ir. Worth Sherrill has expressed his appreciation to all of those who had a part in making the Fourth of July a success. FOURTH OF JULY FESTIVAL VERY SUCCESSFUL The Chamber of Coiranerce sponsored Fourth of July Festival djrew a large crowd of spectators and everyone seemed to enjoy the activities. I%ny came to support the LLttle league, and even though they lost the game to the Franklin Tourists, their home toT-im was proud of their progress. The Art Exhibit on I%in Street Was an attractive disply for passers-by. SERVICE AWARD RECEIVED Clifton Wilson, Timber Ifenagement Forester with the U.S. Forest Service, received a 10-year service award Hiesday following the Forest Service monthly safe ty meeting. The award was a lapel pin accompanied by a certificate of appreci ation. ]ytr. Wilson came to Highlands in 196? as timber management forester. Re start ed on the Holston Ranger District, l%rion, Virginia, and then transferred into the Forest Supervisors Office.
