The climax of the program was
the crowning of Mr Tr>p Hat. Can
didates for the honor were brought
in by the cigarette girls. The can
didates were Joe Hardegree. Jim-
my Harris, Jack Harris. Jerry
Williams, and Phil Houchins. Jer
ry Williams was crowned Mr. Top
Hat by the Master of Ceremonies.
Oiuck Hester. He was chosen by
secret ballot at the door. There
was a tremendous crowd; the
dance seemed to go over well.
The president for this year is

On Friday night, October 29. D<1-
ta Sigma and Phi Delta Gamma
enjoyed a wemer rua<t at the rec
reation park. After the food was
served, there was group iiinging
and Halloween tun - all making
for an enjoyable evening.
Catherine Cottle is Della Sigma's
candidate for Homecoming Queen
Catherine, a senior, is an officer
o( the sorority. Delta Sigma will
also be in charge of the refresh
ments at the Homecoming Ball and
Is sponsoring a float in the parade.

Our Har\’est Dance was a huge
luccess and we would like to thank
Jimmy Harris and his band, the
boys and girls who took part in
our program, our loyal brothers
who helpt'd us "fix up" and "clean
up" and all those who came to the.

In their recent monthly- dinner
meeting at Parker’s Restaurant on
U. S. 301 south of Wilson, the club
voted U) accept the college’s offer
to act as color guard for the band
during the coming year.
The club in another one of its
meetings elected Faye Boyette to
be their representative for the
■'Homecoming Queen." Good luck,
Faye, and remember the "vets"
are behind you all the way.

mander; Tommy Rhodes, execu

Phi Kappa Alpha
One of ihe major activities of
Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity dur
ing the past month has been pre
paring for Homecoming weekend.
A reception has been planned for
former members and other visit
ors. Tile candidate selected for
Homecoming queen by Phi Kap is
a freshman, Sylvia Allsbrook. She
will ride on a special float in the
parade Friday afternoon. -
Phi Kap served at the Moose
banquet November 10. This prov
ed to be very successful and the
boys enjoyed it very much,
TTie football season did not prove
very successful this year, but it
was because of the lack of regular
players.
Phi Kap placed 5 men in cam
pus offices this year: Eddie John
son, president of the senior class;
Corky Wheeler, president, junior
class; Ralph Kennedy, treasurer,
junior class; Leroy Batts, presi
dent, sophomore class; and Gwrge
vice-president, sophomore class.
The Science Qub has had two
meetings this fall. At the first
meeting (Jficers were elected as
follows: Ed Ward, president; Wil
liam Owens, vice-president: Mamie
Davis, secretary; Bill Weathersby.
treasurer; Jim Matthews, program
chairman: and Joan Kelly, publi
city chairman. The faculty advis
ors are Mr. J. P. Tyndall. Mr. Ro
bert P. Hollar, and Mr. Noel C.
Carr, and Mrs. George Swain.
The second meeting was held
Octoter 28. Barry Lamm gave a
program on photography. Also at
the meeting trips which the Science
Club is to make as a part of the
program were discussed. Some of
the suggested places were a trip
to the museum in Raleigh and the
Morehead Planatarium in Chapel
Hill. Bugg'g Island Dam, Matta-
muskeete Lake, and Du Pont were
suggested places.
TTie following amendments to the
constitution were passed: in order
to be a member of the Science
Club one must have a "C" average;
Frashmen cannot become members
until second quarter; and the dues
for each quarter are twenty-five
cents.
Joan Kelly was nominated a« a
candidate for the Homecoming
queen.
On the weekend of December 3

Welcome Alumni'
Phi Delta Gamma, like all the
rest of ACC, has really put on its
best to welcome all of you back —
especially all its old members.
Painting the chapter room, sand
ing the floors, and planting the
lawn have been major projects in
the welcoming campaign, A float,
as well as a display, has been
built, and all the visitors are in
vited over to see both,
Judy Lane, a freshman, has been
select^ to represent Phi Delt as a
candidate for Homecoming Queen.
Sigma Pi Alpha
The Sigma Pi Alpha Honorary
Language Fraternity held its first
social meeting of the year on Mon
day November 1, in the Audio Vis
ual room at 10:00 A. M. A pro
gram on Mexico was presented by
Connie Davis, who attended sum
mer school at Saltillo, Mexico, and
Aberlardo Montano, a Mexican stu
dent from Saltillo. ,
Plans for the Christmas program
were discussed. It is anticipated
that France, Spain, Germany, Ja
pan, and Latin America will be
represented in songs, customs,
dances, and refreshments. The date
is December 8 and the place is
the college. Meihbers of Sigma Pi
Alpha and language classes are
taking part, and all interested in
languages are urged to attend.

Evelyn 'Vionoulis, one of the stars
of the play, has been chosen to
represent Uie club as a contestant
for the Queen of Homecominij. At
the last meeting, Bonnie Wilson
gave some humorous readings: it
has been the practice this year
to have some entertainment at the
regular meetings on the first and
third Thursday nights of the month
at 8:30 in Howard Chapel. The
next meeting will be held on Thurs
day, November, 18. A party is be
ing planned for Saturday, Decem
ber 4.
The club has voted to assist the
chorus ana the Music Department
in the Christmas program; further
plans will be made at a meeting
of the letter members and discuss
ed at the next 'regular meeting.
Hesperian Club
TTie Hesperian Qub is meeting
regularly every Wednesday night
at 6:30 P. M. in the Discipliana
room of the library, to discuss the
debate topic, practice poetry read
ing and dramatic reading. A large
amount of material on the subject
for debate has been purchased and
assembled on the reserve shelf in
the library. Any student who is in
terested in attending these meet
ings is cordially welcomed.
Pan Hellenic
One of the major activities of the
Pan Hellenic Council for the past
month has been the revising of the
constitution. E^ch of the sororitie>
and fraternities submitted pressed
changes to the constitution. Pan
Hellenic has been very busy work
ing 9ut details for the Homecom
ing weekend.
On the night of November 9.
