Dr. White came to Atlantic
Christian College as president July
15. 1953- During his thr» • years on
the campus ACC has made the
greatest stride.^ In its history. In
that piTltKl the college has almost
doubUKi Its enrollment, has gotten
well into a S2.000.000 building pro
gram. and has receivi'd the high-
est accri^itation obtainable for an
institution of its kind.
The students and faculty of ACC
felt a deep sense of loss in Dr.
While's resignation. Dr, C. H Ham-
hn. Dean of tin* faculty, summi*d

finest men have known. He has
meant much to the college and to
us who have worked under him.

Dr. Hamlin Feted
Dr C. H Hamlin. Chairman of
the Dvv^rtment of Social Science
at Atlantic Clirlstian collegt*. was
honori*d by Uie collt-ge faculty at
a dinner on May 2.
Dr. Hamlin, who has served as
a m<*mi>er of the college faculty
for more than 30 years, will re
tire on June 3. The dinner h<mor-
ing Dr. Hamlin was held in the
Carolina room of the First Chris
tian Church in Wilson.
Dr. Mildred Hartsock, Chairman
of the Department of English, in
s)x*aking for the faculty said
"Dr, Hamlin has meant much to
those he has taught, he has In-
spin*d them to a Ix’tter life.” At
the conclusion of the dinner Dr

gifts by the faculty.

Dr. Sparks has played a leading
. role In the research that has
created the miracle synthetic fil>-
ers for one of the country's largest
firm.i. During his 20 years with
Du Pont he has had an active part
in the development of the synthetic
fibers, particularly "Dacron" and
now heads the Du Pont division
working on its further development
Dr. ^arks is a member of the
American Chemical Society, the
American Association for the Ad
vancement of Science, the Ameri
can Society of Textile Colorists
and Chemists, Sigma Xi honor
•'•ii-ntiflc research soclcty, and Phi
Kappa Phi hfjnor society.
Dr J. P. Tyndall, chairman of
the Department of Science and
Mathematici at AOC, earlier an
nounced that the dt^dicatlon of the
building would be held as a part
of the college's commencement day
ceremonies.
The science and mathematics
structure was built and c()uipi>ed
