\ 1 Page Four THE COLLEGIATE April 13 1962 Greeks Elect, Compete, DELTA SIGMA The regular meeting of Delta Sig ma Sorority was held Monday, April 9, at the Sigma Pi House. President Judy Parrish called the meeting to order, after which the reading of the minutes of the last meeting and roll call were held. Eleanor Walters reported on the favors for the Spring banquet which will be held May 4 at the Wilsonian. The beach party which will be held May 5 and 6 at Carolina Beach was discussed. The officers for the com ing year will be elected at the next meeting. Judy Parrish gave a WRA report. OMEGA CHI Omega Chi Sorority held its regu lar meeting at the Sigma Phi Epsi lon house on Monday afternoon. Pres ident Nancy Roberson presided over the meeting. Following devotions led by the Chaplin, the roll was called and the minutes read and approved. Carol Colvard read the IFC Consti tution which had been partially re vised. It was approved as read. It was announced that Sidney Jean Wil son was running for the office of secretary of IFC. The following sis ters were running for campus offi cers: George-Ann Willard, Pine Knot business manager; Tempie Griffin, head cheerleader; Hilda Griffin, sec retary of the CCA. Alice Shepard, who is an Omega Chi pledge, was running for the Col legiate business manager. Lyn Mayo presented some plans for themes and entertainment for the spring ban quet. An invitation to Myra White’s wedding was read by the president. The sisters voted by secret ballot for the top five sorority officers. It was announced that a call meeting would be held on Tuesday at five o’clock. PHI SIGMA TAU Phi Sigma Tau held its regular meeting Monday afternoon at the Al pha Sigma house. Presdient Mcikey Hayes submitted a proposed IFC con stitution to the sisters. The constitu tion was discussed. Pat Roberson gave a WRA report and reminded the sisters of tennis and badminton matches which will soon begin. Pro posed changes in the sorority consti tution were discussed. An inspiring devotion was then given by Nellie Mac Bryan. The minutes were read and the roll was called by DoUy Anne Barron, the secretary. A treasure report was then given by Liz Harris. SIGMA PHI EPSILON The Sig Eps have been busy with activities on campus, ast Thursday, activities on campus. Last Thursday, April 5, pledge Zeb Jones took sec ond place in the Circle K driving rodeo. Brothers and pledges counted until late Thursday night the many cigarette packages which helped them win first place in the “Brand Round-Up” contest. The brothers extend an invitation to anyone who would like to drop by the house and listen to the new stereo phonograph which was given as first prize. With intramural competition mov ing at a rapid pace, Sig Ep is hold ing its own. In wrestling, brothers Bill Baggett, Rex Horne, and pledge Woody Caton took first place honors and brothers John Boyd, Robert Kill- ebrew, and Dick UUom finished in second place. In track and field, brother John Boyd won the shot put ' cus, brother Rex Home won the 100 yard dash, and brothers Home, G. Byerly, Roberson, and pledge Cade combined to win the 440 relay. SIGMA PI At the regular meeting of Sigma Pi Monday night, a discussion of the past weekend activities was held. The beach party held at Carolina Beach this past weekend was termed great success for all who attended. The Brothers of Sigma Pi wish to publicly thank our chaperones, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin H. Bardin, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Jordan, and Mr. Parker Wilson; for going on this trip. The brothers hop>e the chaper ones had as much fun as they. At the meeting the nominating com mittee submitted their slate of offi cers for next year. They are as fol lows: President. Richard Rivers; Vice president, Ted Peacock; Secre tary, Gene Herring; Treasurer, Doug Ledbetter: Hostorian, George Gor- ritz; Sargeant - at - Arms, Billy Gill; and Pledgemaster, George An gel. The election of officers will be held the last week in April, at which time nominations may be sub mitted from the floor. The intramural track meet was held this past Monday with Sigma Pi placing third in the meet. Congratulations are in order to Broth er Richard Rivers, who set a new intramural broad jump record of nineteen feet and eight inches, break ing the old record of eighteen feet and six inches. DELTA SIGMA PHI The Delta Sigma Phi fraternity held its weekly meeting at the Del ta Sig house last Monday night, April 9, 1962. President J. Kelly Adams called the meeting to order followed by the various reports. A report was given concerning plans which have been made for initiating the Spring pledges.
