As we know, communism is a threat against capitalism, and communism is playing a very important role in Cuba. Khrushchev says, “Communism is inevitable.” Are we going to let his words come true, or are we going j to fight him? If we leave Cuba alone, j a communistic nation will be pres- lent in the Western Hemisphere, and communism will have made an ad vancement over capitalism. However, since we aided Cuba dur ing the Spanish-American War, don’t we have the right to stop them against any infiltration that would hinder the United States?. If Cuba is being aided by a country, such as the U.S.S.R., that could jeopardize the United States, shouldn’t we have the right ot take immediate action against this aggressor? This policy is stated in the Mon roe Doctrine. But if we do take steps against this threat, it might lead into a nuclear war. What should we do? Here ae a few comments of the faculty and students. The Greek Sing Committee re- ported that, because of the rel atively small sing of some fratemt ties, the sing would not be held untfl after rush week. Jay Barnhill, president, an nounced that only one Greek organj. zation has received social restric- tions for this semester. A proposal to hold Rush Week one week earUer rather than during the week of Oct. 22-25, was made at the regular Interfarternity Council meet ing. Sigma Pi representatives stated that the 10-week pledge-training per iod set up by the national fraterni ties was hard to follow when rush is late. They also pointed out that rush week is too close to mid-semes ter exams. The Council decided that rush week would be held at the previously ap proved date because many of the Greek organizations had already made definite plane with the dates in the latter part of October in mind. A proposition that the brothers and sisters hold separate rush weeks then came before the council; however, Pittman s GULF SERVICE 515 N. Deans St. Phone: 24 3-6237 WELCOME A. C. C.
