The play is to be the first of the season for ACC’s Stage and Script. The father in the play is in his late forties, a pale man with hair thinning at the temples. He is dressed conservatively and generally appears either relaxed and quite charming, or rough and almost violent. He is the head of the group of characters who have come in search of a place to re-inact an episode of their unfortunate lives. Small and weary, the mother appears in her early forties seemingly thoroughly defeated by life, as if she has been over whelmed by some dreadful dis grace, She is dressed in the black of mourning which is a direct contrast to her dialk white, wax-like face. She is not in accord with the father’s idea of presenting a portion of their story on stage, and bears a look of silent anguish and down cast eyes. The stepdaughter is very beau tiful, dashing and impudent. Her greatest desire is the reliving of the story with particular at tention paid to the near catas trophic seduction scene in Ma dame Pace’s bedroom. The boy is 14 — a frightened, dejected figure also dressed in morning. He is held in contempt by the stepdaughter, whereas she displays the greatest tender ness and affection for the little girl.
