The Executive Board, meeting
Dec. 11, made a firm stand
against a new ruling on class
absences passed by the Central
Committee on Instruction Nov.
25.
The regulation approved by the
committee required immediate
dismissal of any student who cuts
25 per cent of the class sessions in
50 per cent of his courses.
The ruling by the committee
read in its entirety;
“To become effective with the
spring semester 1969, any
regularly enrolled student who is
absent from 25 per cent of the
total class meeting times in 50 (or
more) per cent of his courses in
Christmas Recess
Halts Publication
Due to the Christmas and New
Year’s recess the Collegiate will
not be published for the
remainder of 1968. Publication
will be resumed Jan. 9, 1969.
All information to be printed in
that edition should be submitted
to the Collegiate not later than 6
p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7. The normal
deadline of Monday evening will
be extended for that edition only.

The Executive Board, con
demning the committee’s
resolution, passed a motion
asking all faculty members who
also disagreed with the action to
dispense attendance-checking
immediately.

Wilson Job Conference
To Reveal Opportunities
A “Career Opportunities
Conference” to acquaint college
seniors with career opportunities
in Eastern North Carolina will be
held in Wilson December 27.
Sponsored by the Wilson
Chamber of Commerce and the
Wilson Personnel Association,
the conference is expected to
have available representatives
from some 20 Eastern North
Carolina businesses such as
DuPont, Alton Box Board Co.,
Sealtest Foods, Branch Banking
and Trust Company, Imperial
Tobacco Company, Carolina
Telephone and Telegraph
Company, the armed services
and the North Carolina Depart
ment of Public Education.
The purpose of this conference
will be to give college seniors a
chance to evaluate the career
opportunities existing in Eastern
North Carolina. The sponsoring
groups hope that as a result of
this conference many more
college graduates will remain in
this area.
The conference is scheduled to
convene at 9 a.m. on the campus
of Atlantic Christian College.
