I like it — its

Letter
Dear Editor:
In view of the recent incidents
concerning the “volunteer”
professors, which include
courses in the business depart
ment, we would like to take this
opportunity to commend these
gentlemen for their dedicated
service, and bring out a few
unemphasized points in their
favor.
1. Students receive firsthand
knowledge of the business world,
not material read from a book,
2. These gentlemen are highly
undercompensated for services
rendered.
3. No one seems to remember
the professional time lost by
these men in the classroom, and
how much preparation is
required for these courses, but
many seem to remember the
small amount lost by the student
when these men must be absent
to conduct their own business.
4. Their willingness to help
students outside the over
crowded classrooms is ad
mirable. They have an open-
door policy with the students
after class hours for added
benefit.
This list does not include other
factors which are too lengthy,
but just as important, because of
the space limitation.
As a final note, we reaffirm
our thanks and appreciation for
the efforts of these gentlemen,
and ask for commendation, not
condemnation from the ad
ministration.

Bowles emphasized his con

“I believe in the value of the

“Just as in a number of other
areas where my opponent
refuses to recognize the
problem, I think something can
be done to alleviate the situation,
but it cannot be done by turning
our backs to the problems.
“I don't have all the answers,
but I am willing to acknowledge
that we have problems and that
they are not being handled in a
proper manner. But you don’t
find solutions by closing your
eyes to problems.
“This represents no change in
my thinking since the day I
announced. I am opposed to
forced busing solely to achieve
racial balance in our public
schools.”

Steve, on returning to
