Who will be the victims for
Atlantic Christian College as
they begin to prepare to swoop
down on their opponents to get
their revenge after a 1-14
standing thus far? To be sure; it
will not be Pembroke St.
University by the inethods of
putting a dazzling performance
on the Bulldogs last Saturday
night 72-53.
Coach Pomeroy was left with a
despairing disappointment after
keenly watching his Bulldogs
turn out a brilliant first half
performance, but only to fall
short of that main goal-winning
in the final 20 minutes against
the Braves.
“You tell me what happened,”
the coach remakred by putting
his arms upward. “The players
played as well as they were
capable in the first half and had
excellent defense. But we could
not move in the second half. The
Braves’ defense put a different
mark on the game and they were
hitting every basket,” concluded
Pomeroy.
In the first half the Bulldogs
had both an impressive offense
and defense and claimed a 38-31
advantage at the close of the
half. For in the second half the
Braves could not miss, while AC
COULD NOT BUY A BASKET
AND GET A GOOD PER
CENTAGE SHOT.
Atlantic Christian held the
upper hand during the first half
with accurate shooting from
Greg (Goose) Mosely and
Russell Eaves. Mosely scoredav
of his 10 points in the flrs2
and at one period hit eifiht
row while Eaves dropped, ’

into action by jumping out „!

Pembroke, 10-5 overall
claimed a 29-20 rebounds
margm and hit 21 of 41 field J
attempts and a remarkable 30of
33 charity shots. The Bulldog,
scored two more field goals'
claiming 23 of 45 shots while
having only nine chances at thp
foul line.
My congratulations go to four
players, all being in double
figures. Russell Eaves leading
all scorers with 14, Jim Nixon
and Greg (Goose) Mosely with
10 apiece and Byran Chalk
connecting with 11.
Special congratulations goes
to Jim Nixon for being the
leading District 29 foul-shooting
player with a percentage of 88.9,
The Bulldogs are scheduled to
play at Pembroke Sat
urday, while in the next week
four home games are scheduled.
The first two will be played on
January 5 against Pfeiffer and
on the 7th against High Point. All
students are urged to attend
these home games, to give oiu'
team that winning spirit. Game
time is at 8;00.
Waters II Wins, 49-44
The hard driving Alpha Sigs
were dropped from the unbeaten
ranks Tuesday night by Waters
II, 49-44.
Alpha Sig led the Waters team
going into the fourth quarter, 38-
32. Waters, down by six, sunk 17
points in the final eight minutes,
then went ahead for the victory.
Dallas Authors led Waters
with 10 points. Bill Kent and
John Sally shot in double figures
for the Alpha Sigs, 13- and 11
points respectively.
Last week. Waters II kept
rolling along with a 78-20 victory
over the Sig Eps. Waters II is the
only team with an unblemised
record since the Alpha Sigs fell
two nights ago.
Day II knocked off the Sigma
Pi’s, 57-30 last Wednesday.
Gentry sunk 10 points of the Pi’s
30.
Hackney II matched their
previous victory with another,
this one over the Delta Sigs, 77-
43. Larry Russel was Hackney’s
high point man with 19 points.
Rex Pulley follwed in double
figures with 16.
Day I improved their record,
beating the Sig Eps, 62-25,
