Golden Heart of Sigma Phi
Epsilon.
The pretty coed is being
sponsored by the Gamma
Lambda chapter of Sigma Phi
Epsilon fraternity contest. The
local chapter is one of 219
chapters of Sigma Phi Epsilon in
the nation which are par
ticipating in the event.
The winning candidate is to be
selected on the basis of beauty,
achievements, and devotion by
members of the fraternity
across the nation.
A member of Phi Mu sorority
at Atlantic Christian, she was
born in Frankfort, Germany and
is the daughter of Lt. Col. and
Mrs. John M. DeMaria of
Newport News, Va.
Commenting on the candidate,
a local fraternity spokesman
said that the Golden Hearts
(fraternity auxiliary) were first
organized in their chapter last
spring. Denise was one of fte
first girls to show an active
interest and as a result became a
charter member of the group.
“In early summer,” the
spokesman said, “Denise
started making plans to get the
“Little Sister” program more
involved in fraternity activities.
She has been instrumental in
adding new members to the
Golden Hearts and has
organized them into a functional
auxiliary of the fraternity.
Through her own involvement,
she has motivated the brothers
of the fraternity toward new
goals.”
