Caldwell Hall, which has served as a residence hall for women for the past several years, will serve as a dorvitory for men beginning next fall. Changmg enrollment patterns was given as the reason for the dormitory use transition. Atlantic Christian College has experienced a relatively large increase in women residence hall applications for the coming academic year. Waters Hall provides housing facilities for 148 students. Caldwell Hall will house 57 students. Waters Hall will un dergo certain modifications to provide facilities for women students and is expected to be completed prior to the beginning of the coming academic year. Halers dorm will be converted toa women’s dorm for 1974-75. This will tfa.slepupfor the women who lived in Caldwell. District Champs ByAL HOLLOWELL The Atlantic Christian College joUteam, under the leadership ol coach Ed Cloyd, met the tliallenge last week in the District 29 golf tournament by upsetting Campbell College, filming by three strokes. The lournament was held at Willow Springs Country Coub in Wilson, on April 24-25. Campbell College, always fielding a strong golf team, had won four consecutive District 29 ctampionships. They had also beaten Atlantic Christian earlier in Die season. Phil Fulghumm, another outstanding folger on the Atlantic Christian team, led the first round action with a score of 72 to lead AC to a three-stroke advantage after the first day of play. On the second day, Atlantic Christian’s entire team played solid golf to hold on to their three-stroke lead. Where now? Atlantic Christian took second place honors in the conference tournament, held April 29-30, and due to their District 29 championship last week, will venture to South Dakota June 1-7 for the NAIA national tournament. Bn J, P. Tyndall Dr. J. p. Tyndall, chairman of the Atlantic Christian College Department of Science, served as a program participant at the National League for Nursing's 6th Conference on Developing Programs in Institutions of Higher Education held in New York City, April 29-30. The conference was co sponsored by the league’s Department of Associate Degree Programs and Department of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree Programs. The purpose of the conference was to provide institutions of higher learning, who anticipate developing degree nursing programs, with pertinent background data. Dr. Tyndall served as a panelist and discussed, “The Beginning of a baccalaureate nursing program at Atlantic Christian College.” The science department chairman headed the feasibility study for the degree nursing program at Atlantic Christian. He serves as a member of the executive committee of the National League for Nursing’s Depart ment of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree Programs. Attending the conference were members of institutions of higher learning from across the nation. Educators of America Two members of the Atlantic Christian College faculty. Dr. Ted Foy, assistant professor of English, and Dr. Terrence Grimes, assistant professor of English, have been chosen Outstanding Educators of America for71974, according to Dr. James B. Hemby Jr.. chairman of the ACC Depart ment of English. Nominated earlier this year, they were selected for this honor on the basis of their professional and civic achievements. Outstanding educators of America is an annual awards program, honoring distinguished men and women for their exceptional service achievements, and leadership in the field of education. Nominations for the program are made by the officials of colleges and universuties in cluding presidents, deans and department heads.
