PUBLISHED WEEKLY ATLANTIC CHRISTIAN COLLEGE, JANUARY 19,1978 NUMBER Doster Outlines Goals Dr. Harold C. Doster assumed the presidency of Atlantic Christian College on Jan. 1. He is the college’s ninth president. Since arriving at the college the tempo has been anything but at a leisurely pace. The moments for relaxation are rare as the president moves through a schedule of committee meetings, private discussions with his staff, faculty members, and students. He is rapidly becoming acquainted with the college and its operation in order to prepare himself to make decision s which will be vital to the future of the college. According to the new president, during the first two months his time will be spent becoming better acquainted with persons and with programs. When the ACC Board of Trustees meet on Feb. 22, he will have met with all of those persons employed by the college, and hopefully, with most student organizations. He also plans luncheon meetings with each academic department — departmental chairmen and all faculty members. He will depend upon the ACC Student Government Association toassit in providing opportunities for dialogue with the student body. During the lunch hour, once or twice each week, he plans to be available in the student center to talk in formally with students about their areas of enthusiasm or concern. “The objective of these sharing opportunities during the initial six weeks of my ad ministration will be three-fold,” said Dr. Doster. “F'irst, to prepare for the trustee meeting in late February, secondly, to develop an initial year's program for review by the trustees; and thirdly, to begin long-range planning which will eventually develop Into three three-year sets of plans which will constitute a nine-year long- range program.” ‘‘I see opportunities to build on the heritage of excellence which I liave inherited and envision ways in which the highly respected academic programs of Atlantic Christian College can be further developtKl. We cer tainly will continue to work toward providing the highest quality education available in any church-related liberal arts and pre-professional college in America,” said Dr. Doster.
