Dogs Taste Victory Again
by Jody Jenkins
Coming off of a loss to the
Camels of rival Campell Col
lege, the Atlantic Christian ba
sketball squad was home last
night to match talents with the
Army’s own Fort Bragg DRAG
ONS.
The game was slow in getting
under way due to the late arrival
of the Ft. Bragg team bus and
the action picked up little after
the opening tip off as the
Bulldogs jumped out to a com
manding lead which they held to
the final buzzer.
Although play was mediocre
the evening marked a standout,
return to home action perfor
mance by team staple Stan
Lewter. the 6 foot, 6 inch power
forward whose rebounding and
soft shooting has helped keep
A.C. within striking distance of
a winning season. His 25 p>oint
total along with strong board-
work by Butch Ligon and acute
ball handling by Raphael Boyd
stayed the blue and white as the
surging Dragons made a futile
attempt to overtake the home
team towards the final minutes
of the game. As one spectator
noted while the Bulldogs battled
the oncoming opponents, "we
fought desperately to snatch
defeat from the jaws of victory.”
As time ran out the crowd
witnessed a nine point, 78-69
Bulldog win and saw the team
up their record one more knotch
to seven and nine.
The men’s next home game
comes Monday night, January
29th when Pembroke invades
Spirit Night here at Atlantic
Christian.

team performed well, but spe

Riley for an outstanding game.
Although she found herself in

gues came out on the court like a
red-hot spark, igniting the rest
of the team and especially the
fans with a beautiful slam dunk
early in the game. After scoring
several more points, Peques

He finished up the game as the
leading scorer, with 18 points.
Larry Woodlief played excellent
defense throughout the game,
