The 1980 Graduation exer
cises will be held on the center
of the campus, Sunday, May 10,
at 2:30 pm.
Dr. William W. Shingleton,
Director of the Duke University
Comprehensive Cancer Center,
will deliver the Commencement
address.
Following the address. Dean
F. Mark Davis will present the
graduating class. President
Harold C. Doster will then
confer the Baccalaureate de
grees upon the graduating can
didates.

new alumni.
Eight students have been
chosen to serve as marshals and
assist in graduation. These
students were chosen upon the
basis of possessing the highest
academic average in their re
spective classes. Cheryl Ann
Johnson will serve as chief
marshal. Jack Franklin Deans
and Lottie Geneva Strum will
assist the chief marshal as
junior marshals. Sophomore
marshals are Wallace Craig
Langley and Mary Knox Tinnea.
Those chosen as freshmen
marshals are Mary Anne Par
rish, Laura Elizabeth Plyler, and
Peter Neison Purcell.
Color guards for this year s

Fifteen seniors have been

Irvine Recognized
Norbert W. Irvine, associate
professor of art at ACC, recently
received national recognition at
the 21st annual National Art
Education convention in Chi
cago, April 9-16.
He was recognized by the
Southeastern Region of NAEA
for dedication to his profession
and for his positive leadership
as president of the NC Art
Education Association.
Irvine was honored also by
the State’s Assembly of NAEA
for dedicated services to the
body and the contributions
which he made for the past
three years.
He is currently president of
the NCAEA and has served on
its board of directors for 10
years. Under his leadership the
association has been reorgan
ized with a new committee
structure to facilitate the work of
the organization.
