SPORT SCOPE With the exception of those who | will follow the Aggies to Birming ham on January first to the Vulcan Bowl, the football season ended at the North Carolina College versus | Agricultural and Technical College! game last Saturday. | Throughout the season we have followed the Aggies and wish them always the best of luck. Have you ever met the co-captains of the Aggie squad for the 1948 season? They are Athie Garrison and “Big Joe” Wil liams. Both have been among the outstanding players of the season and long will their names echo in Memorial Stadium. Joe Williams is a senior from Win- ston-Salem, North Carolina and is a member of the Omega Psi Phi fra ternity and of the Varsity Club. He is a sincere person who plays football because he likes the roughness of the game and has a desire for his school to excel in sports. Although his fam ily is interested in the game as a whole and are enthusiastic admirers FAMILIAR QUOTATIONS “Some books are to be tasted, oth ers to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.” “He that is down need fear no fall.” “Man’s inhumanity to man, makes countless thousands mourn.” “Things and actions are what they are, and the consequences of them will be what they will be; why then should we desire to be deceived?” “Life is the art of drawing suffi cient conclusions from insufficient premises.” “You can fool some of the people all the time and all of the people some of the time; but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.” “The best of Prophets of the Past!” “Reading maketh a full man, con ference a ready man, and writing an exact man.” "... after all, what is a lie? ’Tis but the truth in masquerade.” PARAMOUNT FRUIT MART FRUITS — VEGETABLES GROCERIES 909 EAST MARKET STREET 1102 East Market Street of Joe’s excellency in that area, nei- ^ ther they nor Joe have any hope of | his becoming a professional. We! would like to pay our last tribute to i him as he will be leaving the CIAA i this year. Athis Garrison is a junior who i hails from Pennsylvania and has j done much this year in pushing the Aggies to their four victories. In his home town football rates high among sports, and although he has a partial scholarship, the thing that inspired him to play football was his love for the game and its roughness. He is a member of the Varsity Club and has a scholastic average of 1.95. We will be watching for his appearance with the Aggies next season. Incidentally, both players are can didates for All-CIAA honors this year. Let’s look forward and get ready for the Cage’s season*and see what the CIAA will offer us in the way of basketball for the season. —MAXINE HAITH, ’49. And this shall be a sigm unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. —Luke 2:12-15.
