2 • BENNETT BANNER • OCTOBER 7, 1993 The opinions expressed in this column are the author’s and do not necessarily represent the staff of the Banner. EDITORIAL To park or not to park Are you a student driver who is fed up with Bennett College’s parking system? If you’re nodding your head in agreement you're not the only one. Time and time again many drivers are feeling frustrated by the limited areas that we are allowed to park in. Because the city has put up more tow-away zones around the campus it has only added to the fuel. Currently students are paying $15 to park on campus. Which leads me to this ques tion: Are we paying for the privileges of parking spaces on campus or are we paying to hunt for a parking space? Many of us at some point have already received illegal parking violations on our wind shields thanks to Bennett College’s finest Pinkerton Security System. As student drivers we only have two areas to park on campus: East Washington Street and Black Hall. For those who arrive to campus late in the evening, East Washington Street is pretty scary at night especially when lights over there are still dim and security is pretty scarce. As for Black Hall, most of the parking spaces are filled to capacity by noon and because the gates close at 8 p.m. it makes it hard on those who might have plans for later that evening. So what is the solution ? Letters to the Editor The Bennett Banner welcomes letters from its read ers. All letters must be typed double-spaced, not longer than 500 words, and must include the author’s name, address and daytime telephone number. We reserve the right to edit letters. Letters may be hand-delivered to the Banner Office in Shell Hall Room 2 or mailed to: Letter to the Editor, The Bennett Banner, Shell Hall Room 2 Bennett College, Greensboro, NC 27401.
