The recent steps taken by
security to watch over the flow
of traffic on campus are causing
some students to be concerned.
“The gates that are supposed
to control the rate of people enter
ing the campus unlawfully is hold
ing the students out, but it’s not
keeping others away,” said Kimya
Stoute, senior political science
major. Some students said they
feel that the gates aren’t securing
them, but instead restraining them
from doing things that they need
done on campus.
“I needed assistance from se
curity last week to load my car
because I had no other help and I

was denied help or to even drive
closer to the dorm by Officer
Thretha Chance.
According to Barbara
Simmons, chief of campus po
lice, students are provided an es
cort and help wheneverassistance
is needed.
“I’m sorry if anyone is denied
an escort when it is requested, but
in Order for me to make sure that
the officers are providing assis
tance, I need to know when stu
dents have problems,” Simmons
said.
“Students are allowed to pull
near their dorms when they have
to load or unload, but must re
main in the paved spots,” the se
curity chief added.
