The Sept. 15 incident began when a campus police officer slopped a man from entering tlie campus, according to Barbara Simmons, chief of campus police. “Unbenounced to me, he came back on campus through the Washington Street gate,” said Shawn Brown, campus police officer. The third shift Campus Police Dispatcher, Sharlice Smith, said she noticed tlie sus pect walking toward the campus police shelter and sent a dispatch asking all offic ers to return to base. By this lime the suspect reportedly walked in tlie campus police shelter and said to Smith, “Don’t call 911 because I’m going to kill you.” Brown said, “Once I got in the dcx>r [of the shelter] the suspect said that he was a fed and that he was going to kill my family. “1 recognized the guy as the subject 1 had encountered e:irlier.” Brown identified himself as a campus police officer to the suspect. Both charges are misdemeuiors. “ There is always supposed to be Pleas© turn to TRESPASSER, Pag« 3 Greek Forum addresses concerns, rumors Tahja McVav Banner Reporter The Pan-Hellenic Council sponsored a Greek Forum Sept. 19. “The purpose of the forum was to dispell any myths about sororities and do away with some of the rumors that were circulat ing through the Bennett College campus,” said Wanda Harris, vice president of the Pan-Hallenic Council. The council, a Greek Letter student orga nization, has been established to maintain high standards for sorority life and rela tionships. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. are members. During the forum presidents from each of the sororities on campus presented a history of their organization. Also, members of each sorority addressed everything from the activity involvement of sororities to hazing. “I think the most talked about issue was hazing because its a concern of students who are interested,” Harris said. Some students said that the forum gave students more insight about each organi zation and they addressed concerns well. “It [forum] was very informative.” Sereta Coleman a senior business major from Washington, D.C said. “1 think all the Greeks did a gcxxl job representing each Greek organi/.alion well and I hope tJiat all lies and myths about Greek organizations were disspelled.” The Council is planning viuious activities during the semester.
